16 pristine combines, 160 leaded loam down the drain. No skill increase at all. This is player grief SOE!!!

Ya know, I love crafting. My goal is 9 level 70 crafters. That said I have to also state that my provisioner, who is also my tinkerer, has given up. I don't mind difficult but what tinkers and transmuters must go through to skill up is just ridiculous. My tailor has stopped transmuting for the same reason. (transmuters can't gain transmuting skill above 100 by transmuting? who thought that was a good idea?)

I so looked forward to the new sub class tradeskills and was so completely disappointed by both. To those of you who enjoy the new skills and have done well with them, hats off to ya.

It only gets worse dude. I'm at 245 skill. I'm burning 25 loams every combine.

Same problem here. I've gone through 330 leaded loam just to go from 15/350 to 19/350. That's 4 points in 33 combines. So... I think that indicates that from 15 to 19, I gained a point 12% of the time. (I'm not a math genius.) And at this rate, to get to 100/350 I'll have to burn through 8,250 loam. This explains why there's only 22 leaded loam for sale on the broker (Everfrost server), priced at over 1g apiece. It's taking me roughly 1 hour to gather 35 loam, so at that rate it'll take me 236 HOURS (not including crafting time) to get to 100/350. All so that I can (at 100) have a 50% to FD, minutely increase crafting success, use some swarm pets, and glide like a Fae!??? There's hard... and then there's not worth doing.

I have had people question me about harvesting t1 loams for profit. This post shows exactly why it is so profitable. Many people give up before they even get out of T1 loam, so the demand is much higher here than any other tier. Plus those that do stick with it burn up well over 1000 loam before they switch to t2. The other issue is that there is no good spot on the mainland to harvest T1 so it is just not worth most people's time. There have been MANY times that I am the only person on my server selling t1 loam (still the max I will set the price is 50s even if I know it will sell for much more).

Yay for Tinkering! The least they could do is let T1 ore nodes give out loam at a 1:1 ratio, rather than 2:1 in favor of tin.

Katryna, after your 21 combines did you hit 20/350? I ask because last night it took me exactly 21 combines to go from 19/350 to 20/350! Coincidence?? For those of you keeping track, , that's 540 leaded loam to go from 15/350 to 20/350. But now I'm wondering whether gaining skill points is truly random, or if it follows a pre-written script. Which, apparently, is designed to drive us insane.

Nope, still at 19. I had simply ran out of loam at that point. I'm sure I'll run off another 10 in a row or so the next time I bother.
