Hi,

I'm starting this thread to compile a list of AoEs which Counterblade will stop from hitting an entire raid.

I recently respeced to use counterblade and will be adding AoEs from my personnal experience however any knowledge from other coercers would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Celui of Everfrost

Does it even work on any AEs on epics period? I don't know many Enchanters that would waste the AA to get this, although not having to worry about AEs like... ever would be nice. 19.7sec recast would clean out almost all AEs.... which is a good reason to consider that AA line. So my question is... has anyone confirmed that this works?

It doesn't work that way. In fact, it's pretty much useless. What happens is that it puts a buff on *you* that counters the next *targeted* damage spell on you only.

Grabbed this aa the other day to try it out, really just b/c I was bored.

So far, I'm surprised, it actually doesn't work as was said earlier. When you use the ability it goes on the target (not you) and it counters the next ca they use (even if you're not the target)... at first when I noticed this I nearly wet myself as you can imagine blocking a raid mob's special abilities every 20s, or even more if you have more enchanters it would be badass for sure. However, after the first night on just instances testing it out it doesn't work on every ability. As an example I grabbed a brig and went to attack that [Removed for Content] epic giant in ss, I was able to block some of the weaker attacks on the brig but the large power drain went right through it. Similar things happened in hof.

So, it might be good, it might not... will test it tomorrow night on a real raid to see if it does anything against epic named.

Yeah please do keep us informed about this. I just switched over to the speed / crit line and am mildy impressed at best with this, but being about to almost shut off a mobs AE is beautiful. Keep us posted =)

k, went into freethinkers tonight. I was not running a parser so i don't have exact stats but this is what seems to have happened.

trash mobs = was able to counter some minor abilities, but they're trash mobs so who really cares :p

1st named = didn't seem to go off but i was lagged like mad so i can't say for sure.

2nd named = no effect, did not counter anything.

3rd named = was countering abilities, seems it was the aoe that lands a trauma dot on some people in the raid that if not cured causes problems that i was able to block when it landed.

4th named = don't know, somebody got click happy on barrels so we didn't get to him

will keep it for now and try on more raids

Thanks for keeping us posted... I'm looking forward to changing to that AA line if this works on AEs. Speed and crit line just isn't cutting it for me. *sniffles* I miss my resists and max Subj.

few raids later....

Many mobs it doesn't work on, but it does work enough for me to keep it. It's not going to block a bunch of aoes or do anything to make it overpowered in any way, but as you pointed out the other aa's.. while they might give a little extra dps they don't really do anything important. Personally I can live without the extra 200 dps or whatever i get with the int or agi lines for the random mobs that i can use this on. Plus I hate running around with sprint to get below 30% power.
