anyone have any parses on using the dmg proc'ing weapon adornments vs. the +12 piercing dmg weapon adornments? a guy in my guild says that in his parses, my adornments aren't proc'ing much and that I may want to consider going with the raw +piercing dmg on my weapons. Any advice would be appreciated

What delay are your weapons? if you have a short delay the +12dmg may be better, longer delay weapons are going to favor the procs. Also you might consider the +5 piercing adornments they will increase your chance to hit %.

I use a combo of GDoH, Dirk of Nightfall, and Rapier of Darkness usually go with the gdoh + rod, but when fighting orange vamps in MMIS, I've been trying don + rod cuz of the piercing mods

Uhm the gdoh and rod have piercing bonuses, the DON doesn't.

Alrighty, so for Vyemm's Fang - it being 1.6 delay - I should probably use a +12 piercing on it.

Or is the +12 poison damage even better?

2x+5 piercing ftw if you raid. If not and mostly grouping/soloing easier stuff i would stick with a +12 in main and a proc on secondary.

I am still a bit confused with all this adornment stuff,,,

if I have a weapon that already has + 5 piecing, its my understanding I cant add an adornment +5 piercing and get +10 , right?

and you cant add an "effect" if the weapon or gear already has an effect...is this right?

Piercing skill is cumulative. So if you have +5 piercing on a weapon, you can add a +5 piercing adornment to get +10 total from that weapon. In general you can adorn anything which is attunable and isn't flagged as being ORNATE. On a separate note, I know the +12 piercing is rather lame in terms of auto-attack, but it does increase all your piercing CA damage, doesn't it? That makes it worthwhile (in your primary hand)

Can anyone explain why +5 piercing is better than +12 piercing adornment (or at least that is what I think I am reading here for advice)? Seems like you are all saying that if you raid +5 piercing is way to go...why that over higher piercing adornment?

thanks!

The +12 piercing adornment will add +12(or so) damage to every single attack you make, be it auto attack or a CA. The +5 piercing will add +5 piercing skill to the weapon, making you hit more often. Correct me if Im wrong, but thats how I understand it.

And - as far as I know - the powertap is called Scintillating Phantom Handle. It decreases power of target by 184 and Increases power of caster by 140. Its legendary, and made by a Transmuter(65). I dont know then, if this one is only for primary or also for secondary.
