So I was looking to buy my Channel spell book yesterday when I saw the ADP I and ADP III versions on the broker. I examined both books, and they both listed the exact same thing. The description was the same, the recast and casting timers were exactly the same.

So my question is this.....Is there a difference between both versions???

Channel combines the remaining power of each member of your group and then redistributes that power evenly among group members, but with a catch. A portion of the total power to be redistributed disappears. The higher the quality of the spell, the smaller the portion.

I cannot speak to the difference between ad1 and ad3, but master channel is worlds above ad3. I have never done the math, but the power loss with master channel seems infinitesimal. With ad3, however, the power loss was noticeable.

It explains the difference right in the description text in the spell.

I have noticed that it does not always evenly distribute the power among the group members. If someone dies and you channel when they get a rez the recently rezed person seems to have full power. And for some reason in the MT group the healers and MT always end up with more power. It all depends on how much total power there is obviously, this does not hold true is everyone is running low on power.

If a player with a power pool of 8000 is at 2000 power, that is 25% of the blue bar. If a player with a power pool of 4000 is at 2000, that is 50% of the blue bar. When you cast channel, players with smaller power pools appear to get WAY more power since their blue bar jumps up a greater percentage. So, if the total power of the group is around 12k when you cast channel everyone gets about 2k - but those with lower power pools seem to get more.

Death and channel have always been a strange mix. They fixed the one bug where if a member of your group was dead when you cast channel, the group gets full power. I have not seen the bug you are describing, but I havent played with channel much lately.

Good point on the power percentage, but I'm talking about a group were everyone has pretty much the same power. Differences of maybe 1k at the most. Not much in the long run of everyone having around 9k power. And i remember the bug you are talking about. This is nothing like that and i assure you it is not a bug. Try it some time, if say a healer dies very early, like a stomp on a cheldrak pull, and you are in the mt group throw up channel after they revive or get rezzed and see what happens. Edit: I just wanted to clarify something, so people dont jump on this right away. I know people don't have full power when you use channel all the time. And more often then not channel does exactly what you thing it will. The instance I am talking about almost always works when someone has been recently summoned and everyone elses is 80 - 100% power. Maybe it just looks cooler than it really is, and the power is being distrubited evenly, but this is probably one of the best times i have found to use channel. Play with it and see.
