Heya, recently attempted to post a guild recruitment thread and was dismayed to find that after I submitted it, it looked like a bomb hit it. Everything was moved around, HTML tags were showing, it was centered incorrectly, and some of the information was missing.

Am I just doing something wrong? (I'm still a noob to the new forums.)

Thanks!

Nope, it's not just you... Something crucial to the WYSIWYG HTML editor is borked, apparently. It seems to use "style" attributes in tags to change colors, sizes, etc., but some highly oblivious person somewhere added "span =" [mentally remove the space between "span" and "="] to the forum's "naughty word" list -- which is why you see, for example, <span [I cannot control my vocabulary]"color: #00ff00;">.

Instead of disabling certain HTML tags (or disabling HTML altogether in favor of BBCode or another alternative), they made it so that nearly every time you try to colorize text or apply some other "complicated" formatting, your post explodes.

Unfortunately, it probably won't get fixed for a while, since it's just an annoying aesthetic problem and not a security / major-mechanics-affecting issue. In the meanwhile, it's best to stick to "simple" formatting like bold, italic, or underlined text.
