I recently got ventrilo, but I have no mic, and probably won't get one because my sound card has some wierd problem with a mic.

I've noticed that ventrilo has some kind of support for text to speech, but lousy documentation on how to use it. I think there needs to be some kind of parser that strips the text from the log stream and sends it to ventrilo, and ventrilo reads the text aloud.

I've tried to find some program to do this, I think its possible, but I haven't found anything yet.

Does anyone know of a parser that will send text to ventrilo? Or is there any other way to do this?

Hrmmm

1.) Sound cards are cheap

2.) Mic's are even cheaper

3.) the "text to speach feature" for Vent is basically for "announcements" and is at best laughable.

I am not sure I understand your question. But if you are looking for a way to get in game chat text converted to speech there is a Program call Fury which will do that.

I use Fury all the time to listen to my guild chat and it has changed the game and made it much more enjoyable. Now I can concentrate on the game and still here when I get tells or there is some activity in guild chat I should respond to.

If you are interested I wrote up instruction on installing fury on the Fallen Legion Forum: "Chat Reader --- you have to try this" http://www.thefallenlegion.org/foru...topic.php?t=334

When Cerberus is available it will provide the functionality of Fury. Fury works well for this job, I have been using it for months. Fury is still in open beta - ie its free. The documentation on Fury is pretty weak and took some figuring out so I wrote instructions to help see link above.

I will switch to Cerberus when and if it ever becomes available.

I miss eqwatchers. One of the first things I looked into when I came over to eq2 was for eqwatchers only to discover in horror it was discontinued. That program kicked butt. It was also nice to know verbally when a gating mob was starting to cast gate [so I could cast stun] and know when a slow was resisted or stuck. It had a lot of uses. Including monitoring ooc chat or channel or guild channel almost like a cb scanner. Fun stuff. I had it so configured it only did exactly what I wanted it too. I'll have to check out this fury I guess although little supporting documentation isn't appealing.

I tried a Google search for this file, but am coming up empty. Is there anywhere else to get it?

Thanks!
