View Full Version : It is impossible to complete the Betrayal Quest as a wizard
The end of the betrayal quest line asks you to go to Antonica and slay an Elementalist. You fight her, she summons an earth elemental. After that dies, you fight her again. She then summons an Air Elemental. You then fight her again. After that, she summons a fire elemental. As a wizard, I cannot cause any damage to it. I only have two non-heat based spells, and neither of those cause enough damage. Am I expected to get to level 50 to do this quest, or what? Frankly this is ridiculous.

Have you tried your heat spells on it, or do you assume your heat spells don't work on it? I've never really encountered a mob that's completely immune to a damage type, particularly in the game as it currently is. Also, keep in mind that your cold-based DOT also debuffs the enemy's elemental resists, so if your heat spells don't work at first, they'll deffinately work after applying the DOT.
I've used them, they don't work. Scorch (the weaker heat DoT) works on it, but none of the proper heat spells do. Nor will the work after using the debuff. I did eventually do it, after kiting the Fire Elemental around for a long time. But it does not change the fact that for a Wizard, this quest is quadruple the difficulty it is for anyone else. Doing the repetative dog quest before this one is bad enough, but honestly this one is a real chore as a wizard.

They aren't meant to be easy! They are meant to be extremely difficult. I have tried many classes and not were easy unless you have kick [Removed for Content] gear and get your masters for everything.

I did it as a 10 wizard with gear that cost 20g in total. It's not much gold but you might want to upgrade your INT and possibly STA.

I did it with my wiz at l32 w 4-5 pieces of l22 gear and the balance in grey and non-int gear -

invest in an int potion and a heal over time health potion - root it often and you can beat it.

Alodar

I used to solo Maiden's Gulch back in the day, and the named there I had to settle for using Surging Tempest and Ice Comet on. Could've used the two encounter spells too, but too high chance of breaking roots Casting anything else was a waste of mana as they didn't do any damage.
