No. The class layout at the class select screen is misleading, as assassins can only become rangers through betrayal, and rangers can only reside in a good city. Brigands to good dps (not as good as an assassins) and they have very very effective debuffs, the effectiveness of other peoples dps more than makes up for the reduced dps of the brigand itsself. I think they also have a slightly easier time soloing than assassins. But you cannot betray to a brigand. It is Assassin <> Ranger and Brigand <> Swashbuckler

I have both an assassin and a brigand and like them both for different reasons. Brigs are king of debuff but I love the amount of damage I can layout with my assassin. Between both my brig and my assassin I seem to solo pretty good with both but I do happen to like the fact that I only have one attack on my brig that has to be stelthed. Call me lazy but moving around the mob is enough for me, dont really like having to chain in a stelth at the same time. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
