Does anyone use this much? I have tried using it on my charmed pets and I doesn't seem to be worth using. As I end up with the aggro and often "tanking" away when root breaks.

Oddly enough I can tank blue or white mobs pretty well. My crushing is maxxed out and I keep haste on myself. Haruspex and Spell Lash help a lot and I usually have a staff that will proc also. But I can't keep from having to tank. Green mobs I never bother with a pet and usually single blues I don't use a pet on much. I find that Charm breaks a lot.

I was in SS the other day and had a 46 armadillo for a pet and I had charm (Beguile at Master I) break like 3 times -- lasted only about 5-8 minutes before it would break.

Also I have noticed that we can't recast Charm on the mob until it breaks and I believe in EQ1 you could recast Charm and of course you can recast root even if it hasn't broken.

Use it on the tank when grouped and you will have a new tank friend. In a raid situation, it is one of our biggest utilities. As far as use on charmed mobs...you might as well use it while soloing since it doesn't use a concentration slot. Some pets are ok at holding aggro, but I always try to keep the mob rooted while soloing. As long as the mob isn't a caster, it will beat on the closest enemy (which will be your charmed pet). And I try to almost never melee the mob, in fact I'm pretty sure my melee skills are still not maxed.

I always put that spell on my pet while soloing. Actually, i fight like that :

1) choose my pet, charm it, buff it with DPS buff and aggro buff

2) put the desagro buff on me

3) Choose my target, send the pet. Stun the mob and while stund put the 3 spells on the mob that wiil proc when it strikes. use my debuff on the mob

Like this, during the stun, the pet has time to generate a little aggro without being hurt. when the stun ends, the mob will start fighting with your pet. everytime your pet gets hit, the mob will take damage. when you get the aggro, most of times, the mob is low life and you can kill him with root or stun and little damage spells.

If 2 mobs are linked, i act the same way, keeping the second mezzed while killing the first. when the first is down, i do it again on the other.

If 3 mobs are linked, I charm one of them and let it be killed by the others. When it is dead, Group mezz, i charm one to kill the other...

Here is the way i figh in solo But the spell is very usefull in group or raid too Your tank will need it to keep the agro from testosterone doped wizzies, rangas or so

PS: sorry i don't know the spell names in english 'coz I play on the french server. hope it helps, hope you understand my "pseudo-english".

I also always have it up whether I'm solo with pet or in a group. If I had to guess I'd say you might not have had the best luck finding the strongest (meaning highest dps) pets yet. In SS I'd strongly encourage you to checkout the glyphskull skeletons or any of the ghouls (they are all warlock types). There are also several healer types but I can't recall their names off the top of my head. There are some decent pet guides floating about on these boards. As a rule, we get the best bang for our buck from either caster mobs or healers except for a few T7 zones. It's much easier for aggro to stay on your pet when they are nuking for a couple thousand points.

Those are the most worthless things. . . . almost as useless as the dune scarabs. Grab a Glyphskull skeleton, or even a spider or something for the poison dot, but never the armadillo. Any of the "ghoul" mobs are very useful as well.

Trust me. . . a glyphskull nuking for 1600-2200 (since you have M1 Beguile) with enraging demeanor on it ain't losing aggro. . . . With the /pet ranged command you can probably get away with just spamming your root while the skellie nukes anymore anyway.

If you don't mind living dangerously, the spectres at the tower make good tank pets (they're SK's and have good autoattack and spells with an M1), but since they're ^^^, when you lose charm, you're gonna die if you aren't *really* on your toes. . . Same goes for the Exiled Kromtorr that carries a wand -- it's a mage and nukes for a ton, but when you lose charm. . . kiss your booty goodbye.

Still, in that zone, I'd suggest a ghoul or the glyphskull as your best bet for a pet.

Charm a caster pet that nukes for a good amount. Throw the Hate buff on the pet. Forget about the dps mod. Do /pet ranged. Let the pet nuke a couple of times to build more agro then you. Then go nuts. As a 70 coercer I do, marred psyche - hex of chaos while pet builds agro, if i know the mob has a lot of hp ill let the pet fight it down pretty low then throw all my stuff on it and send pet in with /pet melee. if it has little hp i usually just let the pet kill it off.
