I understand consolidation and that each forum did not see much trafic. Now though you are reallying going to have to hunt for post in your area. I would say a reasonable comprimise would be to have 1 forum for each main crafting area (4 i think) then at least all the wood types would be in one area. Hey just my opinion doubt SOE will care much.

Meridith

70 Ranger/Woodworker T7 Transmuter

What I suspect was going on was SOE saw *some* of the specific tradeskill forums falling into misuse and they wanted to try a single forum and see how that went. I think there will be problems with how to deal with FAQ's/Guides (having 30 stickies is not a good idea) and there will need to be someone maintaining pointer stickies that link to several guides. As for having a forum for each crafting subtype (4, or so), I'm not sure how well that would work. I have a level 70 provisioner, for example, and danged if I can ever remember which of the 4 types that falls under. I guess for now I am just going to reserve judgment and see what happens. Depending on how the single forum works SOE may indeed bring back multiple forums. I seriously doubt it will happen for at least a couple weeks though as Grimwell already decided to consolidate the forums for a reason and he'll have to see the new method really causing issues before deciding to change it.

You bring up some good points. I agree and perhaps they will morph it some with time.

Thanks for your thoughts,

Meridith

I'm more than disappointed with the removal of the sub boards... if it was because people where having issues finding the boards (as an above poster claims) then the correct situation would have been to move the general board to where the specific ones were instead of hiding them out of sight and out of mind.

it doesn't suprise me that this was done, but that doesn't mean it is a change I am at ALL happy with.

The Sage forums went weeks without seeing a new post. The Provisioner forums saw activity in the sharkfin thread. There were a few stickied posts that were very helpful. I think the issue lies in a couple things. FAQ's will have to be sorted in one post (such as the one Calthine has going in the tradeskill forums currently). Granted the tradeskill forums haven't been extremely active. But useful information can more easily slip through the cracks. I'm more disheartened that we didn't see ANY threads come over from the old forums. Not so much the rehashed arguments, but the more relative and useful threads. (Grimwells been nice enough to drop a line on that - we *may* see some threads return)

I don't think SOE will come to a conclusion until time has passed. I recall the signature forums being done away with at one point and they opted to let the community decide if we should have it back or not. That was considerate, and what do ya know, the signature forum was brought back. The thing I appreciated the most in that - they let the community decide on that.

Heck, I know a few people that miss the guild discussion forums, including myself.
