I'm a big fan of books, so it's only natural that in EQ2 I like to do all the various quests that get you a book for your house as a reward.

Currently, I've justed passed level 30 with the toon I play the most (yeah, I'm pretty much a newbie) and was wondering if there are more book quests, and if so where do I get them?

I did all the ones they sold me at the Library in Qeynos as well as some I purchased from those merchants in distress (that will sell you stuff once you kill everything around them) in Antonica and TS.

I'm basically out of book quests now, except of course for L&L ones that I've yet to get high enough to get to. I was hoping that there was perhaps some place to buy them en masse like the level 1-30 ones that were sold to me in Qeynos? Anyone know?

There are dropped books and you can get other one(s) in the FP tower. I went there once to get Blood of the Bear (part 3?). Personally I HATE killing the same mobs over and over....read book....kill same mob another 10 times, etc.

Nah...After that "mother lode" of bought books you are talking about there is really nothing but the tome collection quests in places like The Enchanted Lands, Zek, Feerrott and Everfrost...You'll find a few books here and there in various zones as you get higher in level, but nothing like those 30-40 you buy from the guys in Qeynos and Freeport.

Aww, that's too bad. I was finding it alot of fun to read them as well; some of them were really funny, others interesting, etc. Not to mention they sorta motivated me to go to a few places where I didn't have a whole lot of other quests that I wanted to get done. I had a lot of fun in Crypt of Betrayal (and got a massive amount of good loot!)

Oh well, thanks for the answer Summer, now I know not to spend a bunch of time out in Zek and EL looking for a book seller. I have so many other things to get done, it's probably just as well.

Take care!

Contrary to what has been said, there are numerous books out there for the book addicts to enjoy. Some are drops, some are quested.

Ruins of Varsoon - 5 dropped books usually off of the skellies Enchanted Lands - 6 Leatherfoot Books all obtained from questing Lost Temple of Cazic Thule - 6 or so dropped books Qeynos and Freeport - Lots of books scattered around locations throughout each city. Just click on the glowy to receive the starter book. Ex. Book in shop just north of the Claymore in NQ, another book in the room with the guild registrar in QH etc. etc.

As an avid quester, I have 30 books in my inventory that I haven't started because of guild obligations and such - and none of them were purchased from the sage. And I'm only lvl 45! So many more to discover in the high teirs.

So don't worry! Do a little research and you can find out where to obtain lots of books.

Thank you!!

I actually don't get a "glowy" on things that I can click on, i have to mouse over to notice it. Is there some setting I can turn on to activate a more visual notifaction? I definitely have to run through Qeynos and look for some of those you mentioned!

I'm at 34, but I haven't gotten into Varsoon yet. Looks like I'll be there this weekend! (I only have time for the dungeony type places on weekends, unfortunately. Thought it does make weekends something I look forward to). Oh.. after I help my sister in Stormhold, I promised I'd mentor and do that this weekend. Mm.. believe that's where my last remaining books are anywho.

*writes down all the other places mentioned * Thanks a ton for the info Mighty Melvor!

I believe there is a book to be found in the SH Library... Just pass your mouse around in there... check tables, shelves, floors and chests.. In EL, check the little rooms that are in the wall that goes thru the the next area.. there are drawers in there that light up when you pass mouse over... lots of books through out the game.. I still have so many yet to complete at 45 and keep finding more... Also quite a few in Nektulos... I really can't remember where I got most of the books, 'cause they are scattered in all the zones...You have no way come to the end of book collecting... Good Luck and have fun
