View Full Version : A Bruiser Shrine
<DIV>I just bought a 5 room house in North Freeport and I want to dedicate one room to a meditation room for my bruiser. Something with some plant life maybe a fountain and the like. Kind of like an inside botanical garden. Only probelm is that he ia a bruiser and not a monk so it has to be a place to meditate but still be a little dark. If that makes sense.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyway does anyone have any ideas on this or any pictures of something they might have done with a simliar idea. I looked at the shrines on Everseek and didnt see anytihng that really fit what I was looking for. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any ideas or help with this would be appreciated.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks</DIV>
<DIV>You should probably decide what room you're going to use first, then you'll know how much space you have to work with and whether you have any odd shaped areas to fit in.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It would also help to know your budget; since you have a 5-room house I'm assuming you can afford a few rares.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you just want something small, I'd suggest a simple low table for an altar and a few lights. Here's a monk shrine in a Qeynos 5-room that I arranged recently, I imagine this would be similar to what you were after, but this one is in light shades of blue and white. Changing a design like this to darker colour scheme with reds and gold/brown tones should keep it from looking too shiny-happy-monk-y. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><IMG src="http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/1608/monkshrine6fn.jpg"></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Try a <A href="http://www.everseek.com/index.php?&name=Furniture&single=on&fid=92" target=_blank>lion's palm table</A>, an <A href="http://www.everseek.com/index.php?&name=Furniture&single=on&fid=782" target=_blank>adamantine table </A>(T7 common) or even <A href="http://www.everseek.com/index.php?&name=Furniture&single=on&fid=806" target=_blank>xegonite</A> if you have some to spare; these both look lovely at higher graphics qualities. Alternately, some of the fir tables (<A href="http://www.everseek.com/index.php?&name=Furniture&single=on&fid=325" target=_blank>maybe this one</A>) might look nice, particularly the ones that have little demon shapes holding them up; the picture of Tharangus' patio in <A href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=homeshow&message.id=2753" target=_blank>this thread</A> shows how the ebon spellbinder sconce looks with fir - quite a nice dark effect. Slip an <A href="http://www.everseek.com/index.php?&name=Furniture&single=on&fid=445" target=_blank>ebon spellbinders sconce</A> (the red one) or perhaps two underneath and you'll have glowing red mist rising from your altar. A circle of the red and green candles that were a Frostfell reward could easily surround your altar. Some bonsai trees on each side of the altar might work, depending on the room shape and what you want. You could also pick up some of those <A href="http://www.everseek.com/index.php?&name=Furniture&single=on&fid=60" target=_blank>ugly green statues</A> (or the <A href="http://www.everseek.com/index.php?&name=Furniture&single=on&fid=66" target=_blank>less ugly stone ones</A>) from the city merchant to go on either side.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I had a few of the above items to hand so I threw together this to give you an idea of how it might look - this is 2 short adamantine tables, 2 adamantine stools, an ebon spellbinders sconce, and some candles. Obviously you'd probably want more items, but this is the general colour scheme I was thinking of:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><IMG src="http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/267/bruisershrine9kq.jpg"></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Xegonite dragons on either side would fit in nicely, also awakened ritual cult tapestries or the city merchant 'nagafen lord of flame' and 'daughter of the void' paintings are red themed, if you don't mind a rather dragon-oriented shrine. (Don't happen to worship Veeshan, do you? <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> )</DIV><p>Message Edited by Didi on <span class=date_text>07-11-2006</span> <span class=time_text>06:59 PM</span>

<div></div><font color="#9999cc" face="Verdana" size="2">I've got a meditation room in my house atm. It needs a bit of work still, my alchy alt needs to collect a little bit more status for a Pool of Divinity and it needs some more bonzai trees. It's mostly T6 stuff: potted palms, a couple worn straw mats, candles, djinn pillows, a mystical mirror. I'd like to add more watery stuff. I really like those fountains with the oggok chairs people on here are making <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Do you have the Fallen Dynasty pack? You can get unlimited bonzais <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> There's also those racial quest plants to add some variety to the palm trees and bonzais if you want to take the time to do those. The tranquil bonzai looks nice on a <a href="http://www.everseek.com/index.php?&name=Furniture&single=on&fid=438" target="_blank">small dark cedar table</a>.I'll edit to post a couple pics when I log in to take some <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></font><div></div>

<div></div><font color="#9999cc" face="Verdana" size="2">You get one per character. Just make the character, make it a trustee, /claim, place, delete character. Rinse. Repeat. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></font><div></div>

Don't you lose the ability to move it, and therefore sell your house, once the character is deleted though?<div></div>

You can't take it with you no, but a house owner can always delete an item. And you can, I believe, give up a house with items still inside. YOu'd just have to repeat the alt/claim bonsai cycle in your new place.

Since I dont tradeskill it will take me a couple days of selling before I will start having some plat to burn. Since I want to make this shrine, get as much status reduction items as I can and change the walls and floors in the house I have a feeling Im gonna be spending alot of money on this place for the next couple of weeks. </P> <P>Luckily I have a good friend who is a level 70 craftsman who has offered to make any furniture I want as long as I can supply the rare.</P> <P> </P> <P>Thanks for the pictures Didi that is the look that I am looking for so thats definitly a good starting point for me. </P> <P>Shirpa do you have a link for the oggok chair fountain your talking about. (Sorry but its been awhile since I have looked at the Home forums. Though my pali Kowls house used to be in the better homes and hovels thread at one time)</P> <P>Camibella any suggestions are appreciated but I warn ya now that all I have done so far is move three characters worth of stuff in to the house and its all just sitting there mainly on the first floor. I wont get a chance to start organizing and decorating until tomorrow sometime.</P> <P>Speaking of organizing things can anyone tell me which bookshelves I can use to actually put all these [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] books on?</P> <P>Thanks again for all the replies and suggestions</P> <P> </P> <P> </P> <P><BR> </P>
<P>Tall fir bookcases work great and are the only bookcase big enough for the biggest books to sit on.</P> <P>Long ornate shelves (a T4 common) are also very handy for putting anything on. These are single shelves that just stick on a wall. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>

Which version did you buy? If you have Version 2 (1 Compassion Road), then I think the the last room straight in would be perfect for a quiet meditation place. The drawback is that it has low ceilings. Version 1 has the front door going right into this room so it may not be as private. However, the tall ceilings in the room with the stairs going up really are perfect for shrine settings. I have made one there.
