View Full Version : Whole instance uncharmable - That's going too far!

I just noticed that since LU31 nearly all mobs in Valdoon are uncharmable, probably more in other instances (edit: mobs in nek3 are uncharmable too).I can accept it that ringevent mobs were made uncharmable (inspite of the fact that there are better ways to prevent disturbing gameplay of others) but that whole instances are now uncharmable is going too far! Why, SOE, why? When in instances it's impossible to disturbing gameplay of others. This is the same like to say the tanks "It's not allowd to use taunts in instances" or to say scouts "It's not allowed to use stealth attacks in instances".This step degrades charm to a funspell and simply destroy coercer class. Why should someone play a coercer if he can't use his core abilty? (Necros are affected too)SOE, we coercers are few, the at least played class. Why make You so hard restrictions to us? If You don't like coercers why just not convert all coercers to Illus and remove coercer class from the game?Just ago I decided not to change to Vanguard because crowd control is gimped there. But now when I must see that EQ2 follows the same route I should reconsider my decision. If I'm here the same [Removed for Content] as in VG but VG is new then why not change?I'm so disappointed about this stupid change - I loved to play my coercer but now it's pointless.
Message Edited by Soldancer on 02-01-2007 04:04 PM
Message Edited by Soldancer on 02-01-2007 04:06 PM

If you really wanna be an Illusionist you can just betray.Only time I ever see a Coercer charming is when they are solo'ing . . . are you complaining that you can no longer solo group instances?

I can understand his frustrations, charming is the basis of the corcerer class, yes, they can do other things, but charm is their biggest point as being a corcerer. It is like saying a healer can no longer heal, sure they can mellee and do damage, they heal.

And for those that think there is nothing wrong with not being able to charm, it is how they want to play. Either instance, group, solo, quest, indoors, outdoors, if they are able to charm, and they want to charm, then they should be allowed to charm almost all mobs.

I would hope that this is unintended.

Having whole zones of uncharmable mobs is ridiculous, not that the pets in there were even really worth keeping for more than one fight but still they should be charmable.

This is kinda like a Warlock complaining that an instance has too many solo mobs, or that the instance has no encounters.

This issue affects troubadors, too. Troubadors only have a short, in-combat charm, but this change limits troubador utility and DPS in these zones.

Only named should be immune to charm.

I noticed that Vaults in BS is mostly uncharmable as are the guards outside of it. I didn't really understand why and kind of took the fun out of the zone.

Regardless of any nuances with similarity this is a class breaking bug and should be hotfixed as soon as possible. Coercers Charm its a primary ability, every overland zone and instance should have some available stock of charmable mobs within the zones. I was sad to see it didn't recieve any attention until now despite my efforts to bug it immediately after I noticed it upon patching, creating a post in the Gameplay Forums, Class Forums and PM'd a Dev on the first day of release. However its only been one day since an offical recognition, two days after release. My hope remains that it will be a top priority even if listening was not.
