OK I was just in this zone on a alt, still looks awesome and its a huge zone, only trouble is that there's NOTHING in there. The few named who are in there dont drop anything decent, the Queen who is a stupidly rare spawn is never up.The zone would be a great instance if it was just populated with some good names/loot with a very difficult end boss.I just cant understand why we have this amazing zone and its being completely wasted. It would be a nice alternative to maybe CT/RE for those leveling up.Are there any plans to revamp this zone like the other old school dungeons.

I love the textures and models in this zone but wish it could be revamped too. It seems that no one ever goes there except for Bixie L&L and the "By Hook or Crook" (Hierphant's staff) HQ. I've been there twice with guildmates just to explore the place and had a great time.

The best loot I found there was from the access quest -- and it is not even required now! :smileytongue:

The Queen has to be summoned by plugging up the drains and both times I've been there she was summonable. Some peeps have reported that is not always the case though.

The best mob there is the (rare) giant Billy doll! :smileyvery-happy:

It would be cool to have the original "Drafling" return. I want to see the cross breed halfling bixie. Maybe a new lvl 70 instance in the next expansion or some live event/adventure pack in the future.

The difference is that YOU are shrunk so it appears huge! :smileysurprised:
Agreed. We just did Heirophant's Crook and I had forgotten what a well-designed zone this was. As long as it remains instanced though, it will probably have junk loot, even with a lockout. With CT and Obelisk around this level with good loot, I dont see it happening. But at least then, it probably could be made un-instanced. CT is very dull to me now, and Obelisk is overrun with farmers who stay there 24/7. Even Perma and SolEye were re-done - Drafling is pretty much the only T5 dungeon zone that hasn't been re-touched.Heck, I just went into some treestump in RV while waiting for that group (The Laughing Trout) and was amazed at how deep this building was - tons of NPCs inside and amazing artwork - and only one quest there from a dropped quest starter. I almost got lost there was literally that much inside. My votes:

Bump up the named chance spawn in Drafling Tower, with each one having a guaranteed Legendary or Higher (with like a 7 day lockout) - no named, no lockout, so you can just re-zone if none happened to be up.

Make it contested, with similar chances for good loot as CT or Obelisk (With more named as well)

Do one or the other where the legendary/fabled gear is no-trade.

I like the first one because it just means farmers can't own the zone like they own Obelisk and CT. In Obelisk I literally had to stand at the spawn point and spam my PBAOEs hoping that I'll get first hit because some farmer group is waiting there invis to steal the mob. And no, he wasn't there first, because I had been sitting in the room waiting for the QUEST mob to pop and I know he was in a different room killing a different named while I was waiting.I was clearing the eyes in the Troxlep room (named Eye), and the INSTANT the last one died the farmer pulled Troxlep before my PBAOE went off - for those of you unfamiliar with this you have to kill 2 eyes before you can attack this named, he is unattackable until then.Luckily it dropped a wooden box. heh.agressiv³

Lockouts are hugely important to preventing abuse. Plat pharmers right now are doing all their T5 grinding in the hidden safety of The Forbidden Sepulcher in Everfrost. Why? Because there's no failure lockout, just zone out and back in and instant respawn.

This would be a great solo zone like Harclaves. Its just the right size and would give players a lot of experience in handling adds and pulling social mobs. The loot currently in there is terrible anyway so you could leave the loot and just downgrade the mobs to solo. Harclaves is boring because it's designed around the "maximum amount of mobs you can physically place in one area" mindset - like KoS.

In 'tower you just have a nicely designed zone with logically placed mobs and interesting visuals.

i wish SOE could do something with Mangler, now i cant get the quest starter, Star necklace quest which is semi part of Draftling Tower quest too.

make corks drop on corpse or special version chest drops tag as quest chest, then items would be tag as "No-zone", if you zone out before completed, it is automatc destroyed.

SOE already made Agony drop a quest drop chest, so why not same thing for greyed out Mangler.

most of guildmates already had some alts already long pass level required and then it just crap out of luck. and dead quest sitting there untouched, and getting harder to find folks to mentor and honest enough to let you get a quest starter is rare.

same goes for Lost Soul of Obelisk, too many "platfarmers" or nukebots keeping the nameds unable to get advance any further quests, so many felt they get denied of some contents once the mobs are already greyed.

SOE must have something to fix this to be playable and accessable if anyone want to do quests.

i was there exploring draftling tower while in invisible only to get Bixie L&L and run back out before invis expired. just my opinion, it wasnt well designed due to mobs difficulties and bad placing of the heroics. it need revamp, i agree. either by making instanced zone for soloing and scaled until it caps like splitpaw, or make series of ring events designed for group plays to trigger heroic guard keepers for new corks or trigger an update.

I could swear this is already a non-instanced zone. I seem to remember running into a group fighting the named bixie in the tall room leading down to the railroad tunnels. I think the zone is just so seldom used that people assume it is instanced.I would love to see it revamped to have a bigger level range (currently it is basically a 3-level range throughout) and more areas of interest in the various rooms, but still as a shared dungeon. Being linear isn't an issue to me, because Runnyeye is nearly as linear as Drafling Tower, and it's never been a problem in Runnyeye.

Message Edited by Sassinak on 01-28-2007 11:23 PM

You zone out and everything is reset. This place has the quest line you do as you go deeper. No one could do it if nothing respawned like it does now.You used to be able to zone out, reset the zone, and zone back in to kill the first spawned named. You could group invis to the room, spawn, zone, repeat.I have been told they put on a lockout timer now. Those were the days. There is still another zone you can farm named like this.

Besides making it more worthwhile to go there, they should fix the mobs that just kind of hang out inside the walls until you run by.

Hi there We just finished this zone once again with friends, and though this is an awesome instance (design is great), we felt a bit disappointed by the emptiness of this zone.A revamp should really be great (and therefor, you should add some other rooms because we ran through it too fast).I don't see the point of making it a lockout instance, if there's nothing interesting to drop in it. The Queen was not up, and even the fast running "Singing bee" did not left anything interesting in hes chest. I was really upset when I placed the 4 corks, and nothing happened. Please, review this zone, and give a bit more interest in old zone like this to help players remember EQ2 is not EoF-RoK only.

Drafling is a Dragon-Halfling hybrid not a Bixie-Halfling hybrid
