What is with all these botters on AB server lately?

it used to be bad enough that you couldnt kill gobbies in Pillars of Flame without the whole area being camped by a group of 4-6 people with silly names, they pull like over 20 mobs and clear the area over and over.

I come back after a month away and now everytime i go to Barren Sky. Three complete islands are totally camped. One isle in fact had 3 groups on it.

My questions

are why can this be allowed to happenned?

Why when you report them, nothing in done (know this from experience)?

where does this leave us solo players when they camp the very spots that our good for us?

i took screenies of yesterdays annoying group that i will post laters.

screw trying to spot the plat sellers from spamming, spot this virus... please

Wish I could offer a solution, since I don't know what SoE can do, and also don't know if they care if they could do something. My impression is that they don't know what to do..but are at least somewhat apathetic to the situation.

Now before someone jumps in and gets their feelings hurt by my post or the OP's, it's obvious he means people whom are most likely farming gold for 3rd party sites, like the ones that spam us in /tells and in Norrath mail so much. If there is a live player and not all four ran by macros, it's one person, 3 others ran by macros. YES, multi-boxing is legit, even farming is "legit", it's a) the act of farming coin to sell to a third party site or to an internet auction house, and b) The zone disruption these people cause, since most of them won't stop for five seconds to let someone else be there for what they need.

Anyway...my server it's the same, they camp the same islands in Barren Sky. Starting to see them camp in Bonemire too..forget the name of the island, but it's the one with the port back to Barren sky, seen them farm the basilisks there now, or farm the earth elementals to spawn the named (and usually die on multiple attempts to 3 or 4 box him, but finally do kill him..actually kind of funny to watch them die over and over again...especially when they are on a macro, and AoE, pulling in other non-aggro earth elementals and then die). Isle of Discord in Barren Sky often has a group pulling aviaks over and over again, each time I've gone down to AoA, I've seen them.

I don't like the idea of them selling coin to third party sites, since said sites spam us in /tells (and SOE doesn't seem to try to stop that too much, if they even can..but that's another thread), but if they would be polite and let people who might need x number of the same mob get said mob before they continue, that would be fine. But they don't even pretend to be polite, so many have no problem training even a single individual trying to stay out of their way.

Well SOE...you have these fellows, even if it's too difficult for you to stop the plat selling aspect, causing zone disruption. So many people report them. Yet they exist until the plat farmers and sellers either retire the characters, or probably then sell them as "levelled up characters" on their own site. So many have complained forever about these people. Haven't seen too many in EoF YET..but did see some Fae with completly random names, like so many of these plat farmers have. Now...if they are people trying fae for half a day, not giving them a real name..figuring they can reroll with a real character if they like the race, or if they are real plat farmers, who knows...but well, if nothing else for zone disruption, can you, will you do something? Not asking the 100's of trolls who will flame me for saying this. Nor do I have a suggestion as to what to do, otherwise I'd submit it in /petitions, /feedback and also post it here.

Or SOE...do you even care enough to try? Is it all just more accounts, more money in your pockets, legit players be damned?

exactly it... i cant believe that this type of thing is allowed to carry on and for so long. real paying customers are been forced out of the hunting ground by these thugs that soe make speeches about stopping but do soe coem in and actually deal with the problem ... no! everytime i report them all i get is we will look into this, do they giudes or in game people to come along and look at what they are doing? or indeed how about limiting the number of mobs being pulled at once!!!

the only place this would effect real players is that cool spot in HoF

this is really getting to be a problem when its three isles all at the same time and like yesterday 3 groups of the same isle at the same time!!!

how about doing something for us who pay for the right to play!!

this is a form of harashment, if it was one character sendings nasty tells to another they would be banned, how about getting tough on this type of sillyness

Message Edited by Blakeavon on 12-11-2006 12:36 PM

Message Edited by Blakeavon on 12-11-2006 12:38 PM

Just for the record a "botter" is someone who isn't actually playing the game but instead has a third-party hacker program do it for him/her. If they are actually at the computer while they are camping and farming, then they ain't botters, just Campers/Farmers. I left Ragnarok Online for this game, which was overrun with third-party program abusers or bots, and while seafaring pirates and software pirates are both scum, they can be told apart.
