View Full Version : Raid named mobs do not guarantee a drop?

We encountered an instance where an epic named encounter in an instanced zone with a lockout timer did not drop anything. The customer service response is that: <i>I understand that you and your raid members killed the npc Uustalastus Xiterrax in the Labratory of Lord Vyemm but didn't get the chest . I have investigated your issue and found that this npc didn't dropped any chest on that encounter. Please be informed that all named mobs do not guarantee a drop, only thing is that the possibility of drop from a named mob is higher than usual mobs. Since, we cannot verify your claim in our records, we would not be able to offer any reimbursement for this. I apologize for the inconvenience caused.</i> Now in this particular case, I'm not overly concerned... this isn't the most difficult encounter in the game for certain.<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> However I find this principle problematic. If we clear a lockout zone and get no loot at all off of a boss encounter (I saw someone posted no chest on Tarinax a while back), we will be very unsatisfied customers. I know there was a post some time ago by a Dev who indicated the breakdown of chances for fabled, legendary etc off different types of mobs. I thought raid named were guaranteed drops. Am I wrong? Anyone got a link to the old post? <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Have we just been lucky that EVERY raid named we've killed in the last 11 months has dropped a chest? <div></div>

<div></div>We had a situation in AoA x2 last night where Sharti of the Flame didn't drop a chest either... and this mob ALWAYS drops a chest as it drops the final piece we need to get into the x4 version of AoA. We petitioned and got the same response!<div></div><p>Message Edited by Nilgiris on <span class=date_text>12-06-2006</span> <span class=time_text>07:40 PM</span>

<DIV>If you cant see a chest laying around under the mob (or in our case, on our local conj) the following command comes in handy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>/cl_lod_scale -1</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If theres a chest and it's stuck, /petition it. Of course the GM would have found the chest in this case.</div>

Translated, the message you got is: I can't be bothered looking at the logs whether mob dropped loot or not, have a nice day.Seriously, since when did the nameds in labs NOT drop loot? They all drop, and chests stuck in geometry is still a massive problem. If I were sony, I'd start looking into replacing many of the so called Customer service people they employ. This person is not doing his job, and tries sweeping it under the rug with a cut'n'paste reply we've seen all too many times.

We had a clear example of how (with any job not just SOE CSRs) some people take pride in a job well done and some just check in to get a pay check each week. I think it was Prime that dropped a chest somewhere we couldn't get it. 2 guildies petitioned and we actually got a responce from 2 differnet GMs. The first came into the zone and did the superman thing, flying around looking for the chest. He couldn't find it and basically gave us hte same "Tough luck, nameds don't always drop chests." answer the OP got. About 5 minutes later the second GM came in. He couldn't find the chest (it had been about 20minutes at that point) but he looked back in the logs and said "Ahhh, it looks like you guys got <insert 2hander here>. Who wants it?" We did the DKP and our zerker got the sword.

Poet's palace is bugged from other posts I have seen nothing is dropping in there. And that guy always drops chests... It was probably stuck in the geometry and the CSR's are just incompetent as always. <div></div>

Two months ago, Uustalastus Xiterrax did not drop for us, or so we thought. If you fight him too close to a wall, sometimes his chest gets stuck in the wall, or sometimes it gets stuck in the rafters above him. Should include that info in the petition to let the CSRs know to check there instead of copy/paste an answer<div></div>

i know from my own experience with chests in walls (or chests with levtitation) that gm's can recover everything (yes including even the adept 1's) that dropped even if the chest allrdy rotted away... (due to gm showing up after that).......so, if the gm told there was no chest.... well, either he was too lazy, or didnt know how to do his job. or there was no chest, but the named mobs in labs always drop chests.....except there's a bug... which could be..... but one has to wonder where such a bug would come from, as labs nameds never bugged out loot wise before (beisdes levitation for chests).......<div></div>

<DIV>Get this.... a few weeks ago (before EOF and the new chest bug which is supposed to be fixed soon) we killed Vyemm and the chest was stuck up in the wall above him. We could all see it but couldn't get up close enough to loot it no matter what we tried. Of course, we /petition, kill Prime, and then sit and wait. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A CSR responds after the chest rots, and says "Sorry, it shows you got no chest." </DIV> <DIV>Our GL responds with "But... we all saw it. It was in the wall above him." </DIV> <DIV>CSR replies "No, there is no chest. We have no record of you even killing the mob." </DIV> <DIV>Guild Leader: "But... the mob is dead. And his chest was right there. We just couldn't reach it." </DIV> <DIV>CSR: "Sorry, we cannot reimburse you because you never got a chest. Thank you, have a nice day."</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We never did get that loot, or even found out what dropped.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Leawyn on <span class=date_text>12-07-2006</span> <span class=time_text>10:04 AM</span>

Thanks for the responses. And yeah I'm aware of the dangers of getting chests in floors, but a while back they supposedly fixed this and its why chests sometimes pop on top of where someone was positioned at the time of the pull. We looked all over, in the rafters, at the zone in... no box. It was very likely in the floor right beneath him.I'll have to check this out "/cl_lod_scale -1" thanks for the info. But my big concern is this response. If its completely false, then we are supposed to petition that response with another petition and /pray for a competent person to get the ticket? If this isn't the case then we need a way to reliably report the reps that are using this incorrect resolution rather than helping the customers like they should be. Petition roulette FTL. Its just going to clog up the system. Now that I'm pretty certain this is a BS response I'll escalate it through the petition system and pray. However it makes no sense to tell people not to submit multiple petitions for the same issue, but then have a petition system where you have a high likelihood of getting an incorrect response, requiring multiple petitions for the same issue. <div></div>
