<DIV>For some reason, throwing the gear at the Master Clockwork Protocol doesn't disable his stoneskin.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Last time I did him, I didn't have that problem. Has anyone else experienced this lately?</DIV>

<DIV>Same thing happened to my group tonight. Started the fight, stoneskin was up. Used the gear, stoneskin stayed up. We gave him a couple tries and called it a night. Too bad, I really enjoy this zone. It's very different from other instances, and for once not a random evil guy with a sword for the boss.</DIV>

<P>After failing to get his stoneskin down 3 tries through the zone in a row this is what seemed to work...  After killing the 2nd King, the gear drops.  Just leave it on the ground.  Kill him to 10%, THEN pick up the gear and use it.  The other times I picked it up right away and he had his stoneskin on.</P> <P>Might have just been a fluke, but it worked for me.</P>

We had this same bug.  We tried yelling and running away to reset the encounter, but it wouldn't reset.  We ended up standing on the flaming grate until we all died, revived, and went back and attacked again.  The second time it worked normally.<div></div>

<DIV> <P>Were you targetting the Master Clockwork Protocol through your group tank? Because I believe you need to target it directly.</P> <P>Our wizard couldn't get the gear to work first time we tried the zone and he thinks he was probably trying to target through me. On our second attempt he made sure to target it directly and there was no problem.</P></DIV>

<P>Being a Dirge I have an intimate knowledge of how Stone Skin works.</P> <P>I also believe his stone skin is similar to the Troubs version that reflects spells because that isn't getting through and I see reflections all the time when casting spells on him.</P> <P>When my group tried him we already had the gear but we would attack him and his HP would remain at 100%. We'ld sit there wailing away for about 5 minutes changing weapon types or spell damage types but that didn't work.</P> <P>We desided to regroup and evaced to break the encounter.</P> <P>We again tried to engauge the boss but still no luck.</P> <P>So I desided to go to the basics and use logic to figure out this problem.</P> <P>The way Stone Skin and the troubs version proc is done in such a way that the mob get's one hit in on you. Once you are hit there is a 11-12% chance a Stone skin will proc. The stone skin proc lasts 20 seconds. If you are hit a second time, then the stone skin will absorb the entire damage. Even if it's a multi hit CA. So if a CA hits you 4 times in a row all 4 hits will be absorbed. In addition, if you have stone skin up and you are hit a second time you still have a 11-12% chance that stone skin will proc. Meaning the 3rd hit will be stopped too.</P> <P>I took the leap of logic, saying that this Stone skin is a hybred that blocks both magic and melee and proc's 100% of the time. But it must also have the characteristics of the originals. Such as, it has to be hit for the stone skin to go up. </P> <P>The one thing that didn't make sence is that he isn't 100% invulnerable. Meaning it's not a buff like the Dirges but had to be a spell or temperary buff he casts that triggers the Stone skin spell when he says his speech about "you can't hurt me". There must be a loop somewhere in the temp buff that says if the stone skin is used up cast stone skin. With the Stone skin proc up the gear will not land because it is epso facto a "spell". And once the stone skin is up, it's 100% you can't do anything. You are totally screwed.</P> <P>But then I remembered. Stone skin only lasts 20 seconds. If the temporary buff is a loop, then the only way break it would be to not satisfy the conditions causing the loop to continue. And here is were my group made head way.</P> <P>I told everyone in my group. "Stop attacking, don't do anything, don't cast anything just heal and wait 20 seconds."</P> <P>So they followed my lead and we just stood there taking hits. Then, after 20 to 30 seconds we did a test. BINGO, 98% HP on the boss. Suddenly we all DPS hard as hell and killed him within 10 to 15 seconds, with the Gear guy spam clicking that gear and the rest of us blasting him hard.</P> <P>So to sum up. If the gear isn't working and the stone skin is up. Stop all offense. Every time you hit him his Stoneskin resets back to 20 seconds. Wait out his ward timer then get back into the fight.</P> <P> </P> <P>Silentchord, lvl 70 Dirge</P> <P>Journeymen of the Overlord, Antonia Bayle</P> <P>Message Edited by Hazeroth on <SPAN class=date_text>11-27-2006</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>08:24 AM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by Hazeroth on <span class=date_text>11-27-2006</span> <span class=time_text>08:38 AM</span>

<DIV>I went in solo at level 70, so I definitely had him targetted directly.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I also didn't attack for more than 20s.  I just stood back, not in melee range, but in casting range for about 5 minutes searching these forums for some tips while not attacking, but that didn't work either.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I think it's just buggy.</DIV>

<div></div>I was trying to solo it and it was bugged.  I followed Hazeroth's advice and was able to get it to work.  Thanks much for the tip. <span>:smileyhappy:</span><div></div><p>Message Edited by Verdyn on <span class=date_text>11-29-2006</span> <span class=time_text>02:25 AM</span>

<DIV>Make sure you didn't have any reactives up or facing away from him so you don't rispose his attacks. </DIV> <DIV>If you are a high enough level you will probably be parrying alot and risposing also.</DIV> <DIV>Or Just stand back out of range like it was stated further up, and just wait 20 seconds, Fire a test shot. If it lands full DPS, and Spam the Gear. If it doesn't, wait 20-30 seconds again.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Plus ever so often he recast's his Stone skin. You have to wait it out when that happens. I don't know how big the window of opertunity is but you can widen it with the gear.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It's a big game of "green light, red light."</DIV><p>Message Edited by Hazeroth on <span class=date_text>11-30-2006</span> <span class=time_text>07:47 AM</span>

How about this.... it's STILL bugged, and look at the date.  Gonna try the wait 20 seconds thing, and repost... see what happens.  I already picked the gear up, and seeing this is my second run through the zone, I dont want to do the zone again =

Tried the wait and see technique, and nothing.  Looks like I will have to run the instance again soon, and leave the gear on the ground.  Will re-post (and update EQ2 Wiki) if it works.(Fixed my sig.... has been a while since I posted hehe)

Just an update.... I received an email response from SoE's customer service via /petition, and this is a known bug, and is being addressed.  As do when, they didn't say.  I am very surprised at the lack of response on the boards to this, especially since it is now a step in the newly added epic quests....

We found the issue here, we have it fixed internally and we'll get the fix live as soon as we can.

<cite>Lyndro-EQ2 wrote:</cite><blockquote>We found the issue here, we have it fixed internally and we'll get the fix live as soon as we can.</blockquote>I too am curious if there is an ETA. The servers went down and a fix is being implemented, but for some reason this particular quest/mob is not listed in the hotfix. I hope that you are just sneaking a fix in and not mentioning it. It would be sorely disappointing if you already had a fix for a portion of an epic quest line, but were for some reason not implementing it.

Seemed to work for my group just fine, after 7 previous failures. I noticed when the instance is broken, you can sneak past everything but the flyers and the names, but today on our sucessful run when we tried to stealth past the regular mobs, they saw us. Not sure if that's an indication of a broken instance or not, but it was just something I noticed.
