What type of zone is this? Is this a raid gear equipped group zone like Icy Diggs or Nizara or is it a real groupers zone for normal groups without raid gear? I know nothing about this zone.

I'd say it is a difficult "legendary" zone. It's not anything like Nizara in difficulty.

I've never been to Nizara ( I hate zones that are just stupid-hard) but Nek 3 is the most frustrating non-raid zone I've been to. The lvl 70 heroic mobs are just insanely, stupidly hard. Harder even than the 72 epic you have to kill later. My SK is in a mix of fabled/legendary gear, and if the healers aren't 100% Johnny-on-the-spot, I die. Fast.

Message Edited by Hamervelder on 11-05-2006 11:57 PM

I love zones that keep me on my toes. All the non-epic t7 zones are such a joke now that they put me to sleep. When you can duo HoF....lol. Anyway, Nek 3 isn't the place to go for loot, though I hear that lvl 70 masters drop there. I normally only group with guildies so it helps to have a good group that knows how to play their class well. The zone isn't all that hard, just takes time to trigger the traps and proceed through the zone. Great fun all and all. Just wait till you make it to the jail..hehe

I'm figuring that the fabled nerf will render uber players a bit less powerful. That, and I seriously doubt that all the old-world mobs will get re-tuned right away. I do expect a period of adjustment and discomfort, just as there was when DoF came out, and when KoS came out.

It's do-able in very good legendary gear, but you probably want some fabled on your tank. Take two healers until you know what you're doing. Nizara is quite a bit harder IMO, but for your average group, nek3 would be pretty challenging.

Noting that people in all fabled gear could only do the zones, and in turn arguing that raiders ruin group content. ....when in fact Stoney doesn't have a L70 and is just basing his claims totally on what a handful of other people said.....

I would say this is the hardest zone I have ever been in. Makes HOF feel like a stroll through Antonica. My group make up was all 70s swashie, wizard, pally, sk, fury, inquis. We failed to make it past the 3rd room, not the 3rd name, the 3rd room. A few people in some legendary, mostly mastercrafted, and a mixure of adepts, adept 3, and one or two masters thrown in. Just seemed so far out of our league. We are good players, just non-raid equipped, and we wil never have an ideal group makeup because we play with friends. In my opinion its pretty uncool that there are zones we have absolutely no chance in. I don't mind a zone with some challenge. But there is no middle ground. Zones like Vaults and POA and easy, yea there are really easy. But then it jumps to non-doable.

You need to keep doing instances until your tank at least is in all legendary and the group is at least adept3s or better on their spells/CAs. Then you can think about doing nek3. When HOF starts becoming not a real challenge you should be ready for Nek3.

Um... this zone is easy. Once you stop getting the shinies and invis past the mobs with no see invis. We clear this zone in half an hour tops. Just keep doing the zone until you know where you can invis and where you can't. Then only target the nameds.

Before you say, 'but you're raid equiped'... we did it with our alts before. All mastercrafted gear and no fableds (except a couple where we zoned in alts for no-trade loot).

You just need experience in the zone is all. Keep at it and once you know the zone well you'll consider it easy too. We usually go tank, healer, 3 dps too... we do it with 5 people.

nek3 would be pretty hard for a tank in mastercrafted. At least before EoF, not sure about it now. Tanks in fabled can get hit pretty hard now and then, I can't imagine what 2 grades less of gear would do.

A "few" pieces of fabled is quite an upgrade on your toons, you know, compared to those who don't raid at all.

this is not an easy zone. what makes it hard however is not knowing what to do rather than gear requirements. It's nowhere even remotely near nizara. I would also bet that a group of 6 good players can do it in full treasured.

I've done this zone with a group of 4 - Templar, Defiler, Illusionist and Assassin. The assassin tanked. Now were all very well geared and very good at what we do. However, no matter how good the assassin's gear, i don't think he has higher mit than a legendary geared plate tank. So this is to say that it's not a gear fight.

I can't stress enough that the zone is all about knowing what to do. And that means knowing which encounters to skip as much as how to beat others. (Although beating encounters is not a big issue, they all basically just HIT HARD... no real strat needed)

Basically, if you are having a lot of problems with this zone, go with someone who knows it well. After you know what to do and where to go, it becomes quite easy. If you wanna come to LDL, send me a tell and I'll come show you
