View Full Version : Courts, Deathtoll Mirrors/Portal - please fix!

I'm sure it's been said before, but I'm reiterating due to last night's events: Can we fix the Mirror and Portal zoneouts for DT and Courts to either be smaller and less accidentally clickable or "right click THEN zone out"? Not "oops, I didn't mean to click that" or "oops, hit the F key by accident and here I am..."? Last night, we revived after a hard wipe and before we knew it, one of the MT group's healers got beamed back to the Bonemire. Why? We revive right on the blasted portal. He tried to click on the group window to select the MT to rebuff, and apparantly missed. In another case, someone simply tried to move forward and Zap! gone. Yes we could use the F1, F2, etc. keys to target, Yes, we could click the raid window. Yes we could go first person. Yes, we could unmap the F key. Yes, we need to remember to not try to rebuff at the entrance when reviving. Yes, we could bend over backwards and shrink ourselves to 3 apples tall and hope we're too danged short to target anything dangerous. Point is, we shouldn't have to. The zone's biggest boobytrap should not be the front door. I really really really do not mind if there's a teensy tiny wooden gerbil on the ground I have to hunt for to click out of the zone. We'll make it a fun puzzle - find the exit! That's ok! This has happened to us more than once in T6 - we'd just hear a random "OMG" on ventrilo and realize someone in the raid was zoning. Sure enough, they'd be back out in PoF and have no idea how the heck it happened (especially with that stupid mirror). Now we can to repeat the fun with DT and Bonemire (oh, and the Crab instance in FD). I like the boobytraps, I like the tension and figuring out puzzles. I don't like this brand of tension - standing there holding my breath hoping someone doesn't inadvertantly zone out of an instance zone with a lockout timer. The clicky in Harla's instance is a decent example - at least - of something small enough that it can be avoided. The Cavern of the Crustacean is an example of a bad zone out - big huge rock to accidentally click, big huge crab to accidentally click. It is someone's humorous enactment of "between a rock and a hard place." If this extra "edge" of excitement is something you guys planned into the encounter, well, ok... but I don't get that "this is part of the experiance" feeling from it. If it wasn't planned as specifically part of the encounter and zone, please do something to fix it.

i didn't read all your post but, huge round invisible one possible click option zoneouts are beyond dumb. did whoever put those in actually ever have experience with them? i dont any guild hasn't had someone type get a trade opened and the f key hit, or moved the screen to find yourself zoned out. a zoneout option when clicked would be handy

It only makes sense that there should be a confirmation dialogue to zone out when you have a lockout timer in effect

I admit that I have zoned out of DT by accident after a wipe while trying to move around with the mouse and then of course I could not go back due to the lockout.[Removed for Content] me off alot. So I switched to double clicking. That way no matter how many times I click the zones once , at least I do not zone out by accident without been able to come.I agree with what Snark said though. In zones with lockout there should be a confirmation dialog to let you know that if you zone out , you will not be able to come back. Especially in places like DT when the succor point and the zone is the same.

the harla dar zone has a small statue as zone out you need to right click and use. and it's not directly next to the zone in / revive spot. all fancy portals are nice, but why make them so freakin huge and off the walls you actually can spawn behind them.

Numerous threads on this issue. Simple fix too, yet no change. They've added NPC's at some zone ins, but can't do anything to prevent accidental zone out. Heck, at least put in a 1 minute grace period if you accidentally zone out that will allow you to reenter.

Chel'drak and Deathtoll are especially annoying with the 12 hour lockout for going in.

There have been multiple threads about this and I'm sure this has been /feedback many many times now. Please take the suggestion given above and just have a confirmation dialog box to zone out when the lockout timer is in effect. This idea resolves the issue and still allows for creative looking zone points.

I don't know why you guys would think this is bad zone design...

LOL That's exactly how it is... and your screenie reminds me: many of us are in the zone with our graphics set to extreme performance (would you want lag in DT? o0) so particle effects are not there... vaporous portals are not visible at all to someone without particle effects on.

while i agree that these are bad zone outs (some kind of window should come up to confirm) but obviously if there is a zone out and you are in third person and you pan around so your view is originating behind the portal then the whole screen is gonna be covered by the portal out.i just think a simple confirmation window would be the easiest way to go on instanced zones with lockouts.

Lol. here i'll even write the programers the statement.

while ($zone = type(instance)) do

if ($noobsauce klicky zoneout)

  then

     execute Confirmation_window; endif

done

OK DEVS, copy/paist that into your source code and we'll be on our merry way. See, now wasn't that easy!
