View Full Version : Crashing to character select and getting locked out of a zone is OUR fault?

I'm putting this here because I believe this is a zone issue - it may fall under technical but I felt it more appropriate here. Tonight, upon zoning into Lyceum of Abhorrence, I crashed to character select. No problem - it's happened before to me and several other in-game friends I know. I patiently waited a moment and zoned back in.  On my loading screen, it said Lyceum - so I sat back, waited til I was zoned in then was surprised to see I was in TT, not in Lyceum.  No biggie, thought I just never zoned in, clicked the door to zone in and couldn't because now I was locked out for 6 hours!! My problem is this - upon petitioning something that is a commonly known GAME issue (crashing to character select) I was politely but firmly told that this was a connection issue on MY end and that he wouldn't reset my timer because it wasn't SONY'S error.  I explained that it wasn't a connection issue on our end because my husband zoned in without a single problem and was informed that yes, it was a connection problem on our end and my timer would not be reset. Now, I don't know how often this happens with other zones, for me- never. But on zoning into Lyceum, it's happened to me about 50% of the time. There are TONS of known errors with Lyceum that cause crashes, lag, etc.  Why I am posting this is I would like someone to please explain how this is a customer error. How did I, as a player, do anything wrong that warranted a 6 hour lock out when I technically never zoned in? And what can I do to my computer or game to make sure this NEVER happens again? <div></div>

absoloutly rediculous... is it OUR fault when it happens to 144 people at once ?.. 3 guilds kicked out of the zone at the same time is not a client issue. Please sony, fix the rediculous lag and scripting issues in Lyceum<div></div>

Feel for ya.   This sort of rubbish has been happening ever since DoF nearly a year ago.  It become so much part of the game it's almost a feature.<div></div>

Pretty sure it has to do with someone fighting Vilucidae and him getting bugged when he changes stances at 24% - not sure what causes it, since it has never happened to us, but I have heard enough about it...and it 95% of the time deals with a guild getting him down to 24% or somewhere near that.<div></div>

<DIV>This was Halls of Seeing (I think), not Lyceum, but without anyone touching anything, our raid group apparently (wasn't in that particular raid, so going by what happened over our chat channel) had it's Conjy just suddenly zone out.  He didn't touch anything, and from what I understand he was kind of far from the door.  Just..punted him..one minute he was in zone, next out.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As an aside, held an RP bardic Thursday night..(yes, I do roleplay.  :p  )...event was inside a house converted to a pub.  After it was over, I went OOC for a bit inside the home.  Homeowner wasn't actually on...but when I got back from maybe a 5 or 10 minute AFK, was sitting outside the house.  Was in group, my RP wife and our friend was in group so we could chat a bit IC, and they did zone out, but I didn't..wasn't even on AF.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>i say kill all lockouts, lockouts serve a purpose , but until there is no such thing as a game crash , then it should not be in place, cause of situations just like this one ..., </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

make those zones static without any timer. so you fix two issues: the zone doesn't need to be created a couple of times, thus less lag. and if you went LD while zoning in, no problem here too.

<P>when it comes down to this, being locked out and wanting to get back in</P> <P>when it comes to the GMs i kinda think its more of a flip of the coin</P> <P>you could get a GM that ate their wheaties that morning, kissed their wife / husband goodbye, and skipped their way happily to work, they will reset your lockout and help ya out</P> <P> </P> <P>ooor.... you can get teh GM who stubbed his / her toe getting out of the shower, got into an arguement with their husband / wife before goin out the door, got a ticket on the way to work for speeding... yah they aint helping you out with this</P> <P> </P> <P>/shrugs</P> <P>i have always tried more than once if getting told no, its all about the second opinions hehe</P>

As to getting a second opinion?  Yeah, tried that.  And was threatened by the second GM that if I petitioned this issue again, I would have strict disciplinary action taken against me, including the possibility of banning, for "harassing" a GM/CSR. Yes, yay Sony customer service! <div></div>
