on najena today everyone on the server has been getting plat farmers trying to hock their plat by spamming everyoneits very annoying, and they are even abusing peopleits easy for them to make a new account if they get reportedso i see the solution as either :1. dont allow tells to leave the newb island2. or put the trial accounts on a seperate server

Sure easy enough to leave the isle fast but do you think they would constantly do it over and over and over vs just starting at lvl 1 and start spamming. I honestly think it has to do with anon people, i could be wrong but I've never gotten a tell and mainly all those that do seem to not be anon.

Something has to be done. I logged in and instantly got spammed with tells from 2 people selling plat. You know its bad when a Dev gets a tell from them and they STILL are around weeks later.

They are doing a /who all <guildname> and working down the list. That's why anon people aren't getting the tells. Personally, I'd rather just ignore the tells than go anon though.Dd

I know a lot of people getting these tells lately. I never have received one, because I always am anon. Plus, stopping it from the newbie wouldn't help. A few clicks on the docks and they are in a city. Best way to get rid of them is to report them and hope SoE does something about it. Seems it is happening on a lot of servers.

carlspackler wrote:

A few clicks on the docks and they are in a city.

Nope - they are using the free "Trial of the Isle" accounts as far as I can tell. This means they are stuck on Newbie Island. Preventing tells from newbie island would be effective as they aren't going to spend the resources to buy accounts that may be banned (that would kill their profit margins).Dd

Just put them on ignore is the best way I think or even put anon tag up. It's pretty much the same as spam by mail. I don't want it either but there are no "internet devs" arround that can block the people sending spam to others. I just have to install a free spam filter to avoid getting it. You have to do about the same with EQ2. It's not a case that special EQ2 devs are slacking, every game has to deal with it, if you like it or not

They should move the trial to it's own server. Would prevent this altogether. If they wanted to keep doing this, then they would need to purchase the program and sign up in order to spam us again. This way, they would have to spend money to do it.

Yes I know online money selling for real money has always been in the mmo business but showing you are slightly supporting it shows you are lenient about it. I know when KoS came out they talked about cracking down on the bots.....well I know I don't see them in KoS but still see them regularly in DoF still. Stop the trial thing imo, people that never heard of EQ i doubt will ever hear about it having a free trial, the game gets passed around more by word of mouth than anything. Stop that, ban all these bots, ban the people sending the tells trying to sell it or advertise for other things. You ban the bots over and over it will surely slow down....there is no profit really with T1-T4 basically so surely enough with time it will work, but of course you would still have players selling to the websites but it wouldn't be a steady flow. Here's a thought....Do them like you did ME, suspend them due to their total play times and their plat amount and if you get a responce rather quickly after the account has been suspended more than likely it's not a bot. Check logs, find out how much was earned, where the plat went etc etc. Sure there are alot of bots out there, don't target them all, target em one at a time.

I would like to point out that anon people do get plat selling tells. I am always anon and I carried on a very interesting conversation with one of them to the point where I annoyed him to stop replying to me lol.

Just told everyone to /report the name (I know it doesn't do much since it's a throwaway Trial of the Isle account, but he did put in the URL of his gold selling site), /petition to make sure a CS agent at least pretends to read it, and moved on.

Annoys me? Yes. Get upset about it? No. NOW if let's say in July or August, even with the mediocre CS agents we have, it's still happening to me (I get hit once a week or so), then I will be MUCH less impressed, but for now, it's just something to mildly annoy me for 5 minutes, then pretty much forget.

id rather them have to buy a new account ever time they get banned, that way the devs make some money, and at the same time make it a little harder for them.the solution could be as simple as disable the /who and /tell command till you reach the mainland
