View Full Version : Vyemm Doom Trio Advice?
<div>I'm trying to figure out if this encounter is/was bugged or if we're just doing something wrong.</div><div> </div><div>We've tried single tanking, duel tanking and triple tanking these three and keep ending up with the same problem - aggro bouncing to the healers like I've never seen. I'm talking 3 competent 70 tanks who can all immediately gain aggro for about two seconds before the mobs (particularly the Ravager) turns and starts killing off healers in one or two shots.</div><div> </div><div>As the tank initially taking on the Ravager, I would lock down aggro almost immediately with zero problem. Even if I wasn't chain stunned and chain knocked back (nothing like standing there while I got bumped back down the hall seven times in a row without being able to move) the Ravager would aggro me and then suddenly turn and smackdown a healer. One or two taunts or rescue and I get aggro back and BAM a second or two later it's turning on another healer.</div><div> </div><div>Does this happen to anyone else? (was happening to Guardians and Fearless SK). Again, we're usually competent at our jobs and we get up to the trio without any deaths/wipes, but this just seems like the weirdest aggro loss I've ever seen. Even with our high DPS unleashing, these mobs with turn from tanks to go for healers only.</div>

<div></div><p>For your tank on ravager -- put a templar in that group. Have them use sanctuary on pull. That should most likely minimize the initial barrages of stuns/stfiles.</p><p>Have your raid kill the ravager first mainly for two reasons: 1) he'll be the most thoroughly debuffed, so when he does switch to someone else, it won't be as bad and 2) the dps will be on him so when he mem wipes, odds are, he'll hit a dps instead of a healer.</p>

Only one mob memblurs from what I remember - and if nobody is hitting him other than the tank, when he does blur, he'll go right for the healers as they're the only ones getting high on his hate list.<div></div>
<div></div><p>Is this a timed mem blur or is the Ravager chaining the darned thing? On one pull where I wasn't the tank, I targeted the Ravager for a minute just to see where he went. He bounced around like a pinball between tank/healer/tank/healer, spending only a few seconds on each target ('cause the healers died that quick <grin><img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>Seemed like he was memblurring every few seconds?</p><p>(and thanks muchly for the replies so far <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />)</p>

<div></div><div>On Ravagers Memblur, Seems pretty random to me, there will be a few secs where the MT loses it back and forth between him and the casters, actually i would say its on a timer and the mob gets confused of who is top on his hate list... due to Taunt/Nuke/Taunt/Nuke. Have a OT taunt hard right behind him to help with memblur its not gunna stop it. Go "all out" DPS on ravager, burn him down the win is yours. Also Dirge Debuffs FTW!</div>

<div></div><div></div><div>Sghost = Udie or Marz?</div><div> </div><div>Anyways this is Jump and we attempted this encounter last night around 10 times with the exact problems Sghost has mentioned. Mem blurs and which to tank first aside, what would be the best way to move mobs/place healers & dps in that tight area. At first we had the healers run to the staircase to the right (after killing wanderer) and park there to avoid any AEs but would lose los if a tank needed to split the encounter and move back into hallway.</div><div> </div><div>Is there a specific positioning tactic that has been overly successful in most cases with this encounter?</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Btw noob forum question - How do I change my name "Cowboys"? It just randomly picked that for me and I'm [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] enough to not figure out how to change it. Thanks</div><p>Message Edited by Cowboys on <span class="date_text">04-10-2006</span><span class="time_text">10:13 AM</span></p>
<div>A couple key things here with this fight and dealing with the ravager:</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>1) Dont have people so spread out - this will eliminate where and how far the off tank has to go to pick up the ravager. Theres nothing more annoying for a tank trying to pick up agro then running down a pinballed mob.</div><div> </div><div>2) Have anyone that picks up agro on the ravager run to the MT or off tank so he can try to regain it. This also prevents the mob from frontal assaulting the rest of the raid.</div><div> </div><div>3) Any stuns that will land on epics can also buy some time to regain agro when the ravager breaks.</div><div> </div><div>4) If need be, just have the MT handle the other two, while your secondary tank is responsible for the ravager.</div><div> </div><div>5) Illusionary Aliies is great.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div>

<div>Pet pull the trio to the square room before the 3. Have a monk tsunami interecept if your guild needs it.</div><div> </div><div>Off tank the reaver and prophet in one corner, and kill the ravager in the other. Put most of your raid as close to the corner of where your going to kill the ravager as possible. That way, when he does turn, your tank doesn't really have to go anywhere to pull aggro back.</div>

Bring enough healers...tank him on his spawn, pulling (even with Tsunami) can lead to unwanted AEs. 1 Tank is good enough if you have high DPS, burn down the 2 other mobs before the Reaver beacause they are SKs and an Inquis with less hp and mit. The Reaver is a Zerker/Bruiser I believe so just have your swash/illusionist keep him offensively debuffed. With high DPS the fight should take no more than 1:30. You'll also want your tanks to call any stifles/stuns so that they can be cured pronto, if they aren't already. I know a lot of classes can hold aggro without using CA's constantly but if you're stifled/stunned and it's NOT cured, and during that period you lose aggro, having to get a cure <i>then</i> get it back is going to be about the time it takes the mob to spank your healers soundly. <div></div>

Anyone have a timer on the AEs? Do not believe we made it to the 30 second mark.

<DIV>Those 3 do not have any raid-special ae's.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>ravager has single target debuffs, assault (frontal ae), mem wipe</DIV> <DIV>prophet has single target fear</DIV> <DIV>reaver is a guardian and has standard 360' skill-based aes that are used periodicaly (random) as well as assault (frontal ae)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just turn the mobs away from the raid and you won't be hit with anything significant.</DIV>

<P>There was a fear trap in the hallway just before them this last time i was in there. The puller would be getting prepared to get the roaming drake and BAM, feared right into the trio. Happened to a couple of people as well as they were wanted to check stuff out. Not sure if its always there or just random or a bug. </P> <P>Due to a lot of the same issues as the OP, we weren't able to take them down, either. Next time. Lots of good advice in here, thanks!</P>
