View Full Version : Why splitpaw was ruined?

I today visited Splitpaw and found out that whole place had _2_ persons in it (yeah, weekend and best playing time and place is empty). Then I did Trial of Harclave and after that I no longer wondered why... It was so boring that I can say for sure that I will not do it again: once per level, difficulity vs. reward is so bad that it feels like a work (which is a total opposite to why I play the game), loot stinks and whole pathetic quest takes way, way too long to complete compared to what you get from it. Add ungodly bugged raid areas and we have pretty useless add-on. Why splitpaw was ruined that way?And yes, Splitpaw WAS fun and interesting when it came out (although very buggy one), now it is ungodly boring place. It was about the best soloing place in whole game until trial was nerfed to hell and back.<div></div>

i found harclave boring when i did it the first timehow can a solo zone where you barely have to utilize the core skills of your class be 'fun and interesting' anyway? cuz you got lots of loot and xp?if that's the only thing making a zone fun then the zone sucks<div></div>

Harclave is fine........ if your the right class. I did it as a coercer but it just took me some time.I really still enjoy the arena though and am STILL trying to get pick up groups together to go do the heroic arena. The loot that I got doing the splitpaw instances was better than my AQ armor, so im not complaining there. But the lack of anyone that wants to do splitpaw or even HAS splitpaw is severely limited. Same goes for bloodlines it seems (im on nagafen). It takes at least an hour to get a group going for any of the adv. packs, unless you get lucky; and as far as getting people together for a 2x epic in an adventure pack -- screw that. It seems people dont care and just want to do WC->FG->RoV->EL->etc->etc->70, as fast as possible.<div></div>

<div></div>As a Templar, I seemed to have HUGE problems with Splitpaw in general. I gave up on it about 3 days after it came out and have never returned.

It was not meant to be an OMG UBER xp zone. They did not want people spending their entire levelling careers in the same zone.It was not ruined, only the ONE zone in it was.</span></div>

<div>Ya Splitpaw has been nerfed beyond recognition. I hate it now. The loot used to be good but now it sucks beyond belief. They even nerfed the entrance zone which used to be the last savior of that place. Now it sucks too.</div><div> </div><div>Bloodlines is absolutely boring. You get a quest, go in, do it. Leave get a new quest go back into the same stinking zone kill the same mobs again until that quest is done. Rinse & repeat a million times.</div><div> </div><div>These AP's are useless now, nobody wants to do em nor cares about em.</div>

The rest of the zones are just as good, so you can't simply write off the entire AP because YOU only liked a single zone.</span></div>

My point was that trial was unique in style and all other other zones fall to same grey generic mass as in everywhere in the game. Why should I go to splitpaw anymore as I can reach similar content elsewhere more easily?</span></div>

Why do you need a justification to return to Splitpaw? If you've been through most of the 12 zones and quests, then no, you should not return to Splitpaw. It's an adventure pack, not a place to farm over and over again. Surely you have gotten your $8 worth of content out of it by now.

What do alts have to do with it? If you find it boring to do the same thing on your alts, then do something else with them. This is true of any dungeon, not just Splitpaw. Is there a specific reason why you feel obliged to do Splitpaw again with your next character?

And as all people want some value for my money? Personally I do not see what SOE gains by nerfing Splitpaw to level where next to no-one is interested about it anymore. And btw. bloodlines is same thing: people only need that one spell it gives as fast as possible and leave the rest of it alone because it is boring.</span></div>

<div>Yes, it is very easy for casters (done it many times with mystic), but as monk I had to work my [Removed for Content] off for not to die (buff sucks for tanks).<hr></div><div> </div><div>Maybe you don't know how to play your monk then. Cause I never had any problem running Harclave with my Monk, It was god like the run though there. Just turn on Offencive Mode and away you go.</div>

But with mystic I needed to do next to nothing compared to monk. Yes, it was slow, but so easy that I could have read a book while running in harclave, monk took damage from mobs in totally different way (more) even though I had full rare armor. And when exactly did you check trial last time?</span></div>

You got your money's worth if you played the adventure pack out on your first character. This is no different from any other dungeon, which you also paid for.At any rate, I don't think that Splitpaw has lost any value since last summer. It is still the best set of instances in that level range. And it gives enormous flexibility since you can save it for whatever level you need it most, and you can even control the difficulty setting.Like any other dungeon, you will need to bring a group if you want to do the heroic stuff. I still see people go to Splitpaw, you just can't zone into the den and LFG anymore. You have to actually find a group in advance now, just like you do for most other parts of the world.

<div></div><div>Harclave was giving too much exp for soloists. It had nothing to do with loot, the loot was garbage and really only worth vendoring it.</div><div> </div><div>If that was the only reason you wanted to go then you shouldnt go. Every zone and expansion has its fans and haters. I liked the other parts to it so I did it. Once its done its done its really not something that people would grind out the exp levels for. Which is probably why they changed it in the first place.</div><div> </div><div>EDIT: I am not saying that solists dont deserve good exp. I too am a soloist. But when 1 solo instance with 10 rooms is the best way in the game to level from 20-50... something is wrong.</div><p>Message Edited by Rhianni on <span class="date_text">04-03-2006</span><span class="time_text">01:06 PM</span></p>
