Does anyone know if there's a ring event on breeding grounds in TT, where the thundermaw drakes are? Someone told me there was, but the drakes don't all spawn together, and I tried killing them all but nothing happened. I do seem to recall seeing a named drake spawn there though, is that linked or just another rare spawn?

Yes there is. You just keep killing the drakes and sooner or later a ^^ drake named Stormjaw (something like that) popps. He's an easy mob and really didn't drop anything too interesting. I don't think I even got AA for him.

Interesting, I was just on Bixie Isle this morning and didn't see anything that looked like a ring event over there. Is there a named that gives AA there if you do the ring? That's mainly what I want to do them for :smileyvery-happy:

They are easy to spot ... all the monsters stand in a circle ....Only joking, its where you kill successive spawns of monsters in the same location until a named mob appears. Kill that and the 'ring event' resets to the start mobs again.

Didn't the first 'ring event' in EverQuest come from the revamp of Cazic Thule? Remember the slimes... omg.

Trying to remember if there was a ring event before that... Plane of Sky had several included in it; Pegasus, Bzzt, etc.

I have actually heard people in groups say they're called ring events because the mobs are usually in a circle of some kind :smileyvery-happy:I bet a lot of people who play EQ2 don't know where in EQ1 the term came from!To the above poster, IIRC (It's been a while) the ring event term originated with the Dwarf/Giant event for the 10th and final ring reward in Velious, where tons of Giants would appear, and you would kill them until eventually the big bad named frost giant spawned, who dropped a crown of some kind.

Message Edited by stryker115 on 03-23-200608:01 AM

Wasn't that the first of these styles of spawning? Then when people encountered a new one it was described as "just like the ring event in CT" which eventually just became a "ring event".I could be wrong however, been many years now since I played EQ

Kill the little ones, then the bigger ones, then the Broodmother. Did it a few times there getting the last of my drakota L&L.

As for the term "ring event," may have something to do with some of the original scripts being confined to a physical space. Either by doors and such, or just invisible boundaries. I remember the slime ring in CT used to be this way(when you placed the gems in the totems) although I don't know if it still is.

granted the question posed to the person that re-opened the thread has been ignored, but calm the heck down....his question was somewhat valid to the original topic and in my opinion it was in his best interest to put the question in that thread with already relevant information then to create a new thread, get flamed for not researching, and have alot of the same information reposted again by responders.

Necro-posting can be a bad thing, but it seems this board has turned into a race to point out the necro-threads before someone else can. So what if it was 6 months old, it WAS relevant. If necro-posting is such a turmoil creating thing that disrupts all rational concepts of being, then the mods should have all threads locked after 3 months. If they arent and the good ole reply button is working, then go right ahead and post away.
