<div></div><div>Hello,</div><div> </div><div>I'm reasonably new to these parts, having just moved over from WoW so forgive me if I have overlooked something. After 4 weeks of playing EQ2, I am wondering where the heck everybody is? I know they recently merged servers to give us new er players the feeling of more people about, but quite frankly I don't see that it worked. The most folks I've seen at any given time would be 10-12 gathered snugly around the broker in Qeynos harbor.</div><div> </div><div>Is there a place that I can go to and ogle at the Great warrior or Wizard I may one day become? A place where I can see Victorious Guilds celebrating their victories or bare witness to a guild preparing to leave in search of their own spoils? Basically I'm wondering if there is such a gathering point where I can find the masses and mingle with the top brass of the server?</div><div> </div><div>Comparatively speaking, I've previously spent 5 years playing Ultima Online and people would gather at the bank. </div><div>I have also played 2 years of Everquest 1 and people would gather at the bank or the bazaar.</div><div>And before moving here as I stated earlier, I spent 14months being a citizen of WoW, where again people would gather about the Bank/Auction House.</div><div> </div><div>I miss the socializing and the feel that one gets from mingling with dozens of players and being a new player, I have quite possibly just not found this oasis yet. It's not for lack of trying though and as a Druid of the 30th season I have ventured into quite a few areas, but alas no more than 10-12 folks have I seen together. Surely any area like I am suggesting should allow low levels the ability to reach and its this thinking which leads me to believe that in fact there are no meeting places.</div><div> </div><div>I did ask someone in game where I could find people, and they told me that there was a lot to do in game and people were usually off doing it. Content is great - but atmosphere is everything to me. An online game has got to be more than just nice areas to hunt and quest in. Show me the life that is not computer generated!!</div><div> </div><div>I'm guessing that responses to this will be - its to combat lag issues that they don't have a set area. I say to those people - If you haven't played a Full WoW server then you don't know what some people are willing to put up with in order to get the feeling I am talking about.</div><div> </div><div>My question to you - Is there a gathering point on the server where I can walk amongst my peers and ogle at their accomplishments?</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Woftam 30th Warden of Butcherblock.</div>
People don't gather in one spot in EQ2. You'll never find an area like the ones you listed.<div></div>

Nah, we don't have a WoW Ironforge here. There's too many overland zones, dungeons, adventure packs, expansions, tradeskill areas, instances and raid zones spreading out people. The old hangout places however used to be Thundering Steppes docks (before Desert of Flames came out) and the Sinking Sands docks (before Kingdom of Sky came out) as they were the major hubs the higher level people came and left through. Kindgom of Sky can be accessed from 6 different places in the world and takes you to one of three realms, so there is no current hub for 55-70 players to gather at.Typically Qeynos Harbor and East Freeport are where you'll see the biggest gatherings. Don't get me wrong, there are a ton of people playing, the world is just soo huge and spread out you wont often see large groups at one particular spot.<div></div>

There are usually lots of people standing around on the docks in TS and Nek. As well, the dock in Sinking Sands is usually quite crowded. There are always a lot of people in the area where you zone into Tenebrous Tangle. There isn't too much "socialization" in a standing-around kind of way. Most of the socialization that I do is on my guild chat channel and we don't need to be in the same location for that.Others socialize on the various world-wide or zone-wide channels.<div></div>

<div></div><p>Try the Fight Club at the docks in Sinking Sands (SS) if you have that expansion (Desert of Flames). That used to be the place before Kingdon of the Sky. I haven't been in DoF since that time, so I do not know how crowded that part gets anymore.</p><p>The docks is usually where most people hang out at, but are usually afk. However, even after the server mergers, the only place besides SS that I see a lot of people at is the brokers. Not many people that I know in this game play it to socialize in the sense of everyone being in the same spot talking. It's more of an instant messaging serial killer type game.</p><p>I would suggest looking for a large guild, if you haven't done so already, so that you can interact with a lot of people. Most people link their stuff in guild chat for others to see and to share their accomplishments.</p>

<div></div><p>Woftam</p><p>The other posters are correct, people don't tend to gather in one central location as they did in the other games. Since each race has their own home zone, like Nettleville Hovel or Baubleshire, people tend to go to their own bank rather then gathering at one large central bank like in Plane of Knowledge (EQ1) or the Auction House (WoW).</p><p>The majority of community interaction happens in the general chat channels since they are not zone specific.</p><p>Also you will find that people in this game shy away from the more largely populated zones due to lag issues, or other personal reasons.</p>
<div>QH is a big place to find people in qeynos, EFP in freeport. As said it used to be on the docks in SS you'd find people, well there or the camp site in PoF, but not anymore with KoS out. Now you can find a lot of people hanging around the TT entrance, drednever crash site in the bonemire, or maybe on whisperwind island in barren sky.</div>
<div>Have you felt the impact the graphics give to your system? I would HATE to be in the same zone as 100 - 200 people, [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] my PC would explode. Its fine for WOW its one of the least 3D graphical games, but this is a generation ahead of that game and I'm glad all the social activity is done text based.</div>

<div></div>Besides that it seems there is not as much out of guild socializing here as in other games. But mostly people socialize through the level chat channels which are server wide.
