A while back, towards the early portion of DoF, a guild mate of mine pointed the "waterfall phenomenon" to us.. after being a little confused, I took a closer look.. so weird.. so weird.. Anyway, on your next trip to the Gates of Ahket Aken (or Living Tombs/Silent City/Fountain of Life).. stare directly into one of the water falls, you'll be somewhat freaked out at what you might see (the best time/waterfall to do this in is the one at the bottom of the ramp from the snake, Ahk Atum in GoAA)..At first glance, it looks like some light source bouncing off of the water...A closer look..It's us, 15 minutes before this screenshot... AT THE ZONE IN... weird huh? (screen shot sucks kinda, but you can see someone hopping on their spirit steed, and someone else standing next to him + some other people)More fun..As I got closer to that fall, I was able to see the opposite side of Living Tombs.. freaky..Lastly, on either EXTREME PERFORMANCE, or VERY HIGH PERFORMANCE.. I climbed the wall to the triggered Gargoyle in GoAA.. this freaked me out even more...Again.. it's us at the zone in.. notice the spikes running through the left of the picture from one of our scouts shoulders, me on my horse, someone on a carpet, and a few others...Question: Why in the hell.. lol.. does this stuff happen? Was this intended? Was it put in the game to "spook" people? Either way I think it's cool as hell..Check it out next time you're in Gates of Ahket Aken (it works best in GoAA, for some reason it seems to capture the zone-in images longer in the GoAA waterfalls). Also look into the opposite side of the waterfalls for different images.

Message Edited by Reposado on 01-10-200609:39 AM

Try the feerrott by where cythan can be found...If you turn at just the right angle all the land dissapears and you are walking through the stars...really cool once you get over the vertigo.

Have you ever looked out to sea, either on the griffin or from the docks and seen castles and trees reflected ... and there are no castles or trees on the other side ... just open ocean ? Beatuiful reflections ... but 180 degrees from what should be reflected.

All these effects are probably due to having the "water reflections" setting in your graphics options set to "update once". All the reflective surfaces in the zone are set when you enter the zone and not updated again. Additionally, it appears that many of the zone geometry features are transparent to the reflection calculations, letting your characters images get reflected on surfaces that you can not see when you enter the zone. Change the reflections settings in graphic options to allow the reflections to be updated at least occasionally, if not continuously, and the effects you are seeing here will probably go away, although they are pretty freaky and cool.

This is actually a performance setting. Its a setting that controls how often reflections refresh. I can't login at the moment, but the high performance option is that it builds all reflections from a snapshot when you zone it. It makes for some wierd reflections but that is what is causing it. If you set it to refresh the reflections the images look better, but your performance will really suffer as those updates and tough on a GPU/CPU.

If you're really good, you can get the ocean in SS to be a reflection of your inn room.

That's pretty neat. I used to get the same phenomenon, except the image was always my warlock on the character select screen, petrified.

I've noticed similar things when a conjurer friend of mine casts a stun, or some spell that kind of turns the mob into a mirror, you can see images also, but it doesn't last long enough to really peer into.

This is neat tho heh.

Same thing happens in Sol Eye. The elevator with the red globe in the middle of it reflects your grp from when they zoned in kinda neat.

With the old summoner stun I used to get that. But it was never my group. It was the same image, half elf looking like Link swinging a sword, High elf casting away, etc. I would walk in to the mob and change my camera to first person. I could see even more.

The waterfalls in bloodlines lets me see across the zone.
