<DIV> <DIV>An open letter on an old subject: Silent City.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I can stand the rare spawns of said names for the eyes. I really can. What I cannot stand though, is the indecision and flip flopping on the loot that drops here. A while back, legendary loot started dropping. Some good legendary loot might I add. This wet the mouth of my guild. We continued to gather our eyes and get loot. We were happy.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When the drop rate increased, we saw a huge increase in the drop rate on the mobs in SC. Rares off mobs, and metal chests. OMG. We were very excited and happy. It felt like we were actually being rewarded for our time, and killing piles of x4 mobs. Yesterday, our best day in there, cleared about 20 rares and 7 metal chests in about 5-6 hours. We were extatic. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Today, we went in, and got 8 chests. Now, here's the kicker, out of these 8 chests, 5 were tradeskill scrolls (standard Advanced Woodworker Volume blah) and 3 were legendary. All 3 legendary chests were the lovely Teachings of scrolls. This was, might I add, in 3 hours.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I understand nerfs, but dear god. This is back to the level that it was at release. The constant flip-flopping and complete indecision on the loot in this zone makes me want to do a /flipoff emote. This is silly, stupid, and basically tells your raiding guilds that we are an afterthought. Combine this with the 3 weeks and no response on scales, until yesterday, and the lack of interest in our concerns, makes me wonder about the stability and longevity of this game. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Please look into this and make smart, thoughtout decisions. And, for the love of all that is holy, find a balance in loot in Silent City. And, when you stealth upgrade mobs, let us know. Dooming Depths and Tidal Wave are on 90% of the mobs in here now, including all Temple Protectors, & Aqueous Serpents. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This has such potential to be a fun zone, but just lacks a purpose to go there if the loot drops at a rare rate. I honestly think that mining a cobalt has a better chance to happen that getting a decent chest off these mobs now.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, I could build a graveyard the size of Freeport with the number of mobs that we've killed in here. I should be "Super Uber Destroy of all Undead - If you're undead, run the other way, no really" title. Should 24 people go out and harvest in SS and POF instead of raiding, cause that would be a better use of time for outfitting a guild rather than raiding at this point (though, at this point, we need so few rares to outfit, it's a Catch-22, /sigh).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Sincerely,</DIV></DIV>
From what I've read, it seems like they took the easy way out of fixing the rares influx. They must have a global command where they can say "all DoF named drop rares X% of the time. Because some named were being abused (Overseer and other clefts solo mobs), they nerfed everything including named mobs you have to work for to spawn in PoF, instanced named mobs, and raid named mobs. I guess harvesting is the only way to get rares once again.

I've noticed the change in drop rates too. I've only been doing groups in small instances or solo (Vault, Sanctorium, HIdden Cache, Roost, etc.) every day, and haven't seen a tradeskill rare in the last two days, even off all of those named. I assumed at first the rares were reduced on certain things (like CoR mobs) to stop the rampant botting, but it appears they've been lowered or removed pretty much everywhere. Instances should still have a decent chance to drop them, the lockout prevents the same farming. P.S. And please take those stupid teachings out of the legendary chests, I know they're legendary but it makes me think I finally found a tradeskill rare each time <span>:smileyhappy:</span> <div></div>

<DIV>heh reading the post made me think of kerry ;p but anyways... i have noticed the same thing. Some days are so awesome and others... blah. only thing i can think of that may be causing it..is that i am 1 monster off from getting the drop. There may be some other group in DoF that just killed a mob and got the chest instead of the one you killed. Its just like trying to farm rares from the harvesting nodes... Someone may hit that thing and get it and when the next one is about to come around..hits it again and so on... Seems like it doesnt have a count just for you only.</DIV>

Please find balance. The raid zones should not get hit with the same nerf bat as the solo mobs in Clefts. In fact if you need feedback, we'd love to help you out. Ask us, we'll communicate with you. When changes come in, unannounced, it frustrates us.</FONT></P> <P><FONT color=#ff0000>We know you have alot on your hands. So many players. So many player types. And those of us in raiding guilds are the minority. It's ok, we get it. But we're your groupies. We're the ones who'll be here through the changes, hopefully. It's obvious you want more players to experience the high-end game. The stats on crafted items are insane, along with the rate they drop. Awesome!! More people get to see more of the game. Just, don't forget about us in the meantime.</FONT></P><FONT color=#ff0000></FONT> <P align=center><BR><FONT color=#ff0000>Ghagha Aroo - Club Fu - Blackburrow</FONT></P> <P align=center><FONT color=#ff0000>Super Uber Destroy of all Undead - If you're undead, run the other way, no really</FONT></P>

<div></div><div></div><hr><font color="#ff0000">When changes come in, unannounced, it frustrates us.</font><hr>"Frustrates us" is putting it very kindly, IMO. It is not to much to ask for a heads up when you change an epic mob. We're not asking you to post "oh yes, btw, X mob has Dooming Depths AND Tidal Wave and they hit for X number damage per hit every X number of seconds." We're just asking you to post a simple note saying "X mob has a new trick up his sleeve." Shockingly difficult, I'm sure.Regarding the loot tables... I joked last night SOE seems to work in binary - either on or off. We went from a reasonable, nice drop rate the night before, to nada. I watched the raid party deflate visibly after every kill. Raiding is supposed to be challenging, but fun. Loot free raiding is not challenging, it's just a morale killer. It's not like these people are greedy or whiny... they're working to spawn nameds that are already rare or ninja boosted, and for 3 hours straight we win a bunch of solo mob crap off epics (if even...that's the real kicker, I'm getting better drops on solo mobs than we were off of epic x4's)? Not only this, but the xp gain in that zone for the under 60's is slim to none, so there is absolutely NO incentive we can give them to come help get the eyes we need other than to say "we'll get to go into a really cool raid zone." What the heck do they care about Fountain of Life and Godking if they're burnt out and don't want to play anyway? But oh, hold on, a lvl 51 bruiser adept I just dropped. There is a God! Please lotto, oh please please, let me win it. <p>Message Edited by megaira13 on <span class=date_text>12-08-2005</span> <span class=time_text>06:45 PM</span>
