Ok, so you changed how the underlying interface works, so now, for the first time since beta, I have to deal with your default bags. All I can say is, these things are beyond annoying and I remember now why I had to get rid of them ASAP a couple years back and never looked at them again!

I need to be able to open my inventory bags and all my bank boxes on a single screen... with the defaults I can only open my inventory and one row of my bank at a time and be able to see them.. at 1280x1024 resolution no less!

Please... please.. please... redo the default bags. make them resizeable, make them about 1/2 their current size or something, so a player can move things around their inventory without having to open/close bags or boxes a hundred times during the process trying to figure out where to put what.

/AmenI hate the bag UI so, so, so much. I went to a no-frills, 6-wide, 3/4 icon bag mod well over a year ago and I miss it so terribly much. Especially now that I have the Wantia harvesting satchel -- I like it open when I'm harvesting or tailoring but I can't frigging see anything when it is. And I'm at 1280x1024, too.

I play at 1064x768 and have always used the default UI for everything because I generally disapprove of UI mods for MMOs - I liked it better before we had them, when you could roughly assume that everyone in your group was seeing as close to the same game image as possible. There's more than enough variation already in different systems without modding the UI on top of that.I can't say I have had any real problems with the Inventory and Bank displays and I certainly wouldn't want to see neat rows of open bags on a single clickas the default. Playing around with the bags to get at what I want in the bank is a positive pleasure for me, not a chore.

Kwoung,

I already rewrote a mod for the new bags, though it is not completely done. I rarely have time to work on it because I started a new, extremely busy, job 2 weeks ago.

It does work though, 28x28 icons, no frills bags. Let me know where to send the xml file and I'll shoot it to you. It's functional, just not 100% pretty (background is missing, slight invis overlap on the bottom, but every slot works for even the 36 slot items).

I can fit all my bags on the screen again and I run at 1024x768.

At the very least, it'll work for you until I finish it or until someone else pops one on to eq2 interface.

Thanks I will check it out. I stand by my original post thought.. the default bags should be smaller, and removing the title bar via the options should give you extra space, not just make it invisable (but still clickable) as it overlaps and gets in the way of other bags you have open.

Obviously, some folks do not mind a big mess on their screen (like Bhagpuss), but call me [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]... I do like to see nice rows of inventory when I open my bank up. When I bank, I want to go in, bank and leave, not make figuring out what I put where, an entire adventure in itself. I do not want or need mini-adventures such as that, I prefer my adventures outside of town (in most cases) and prefer to deal with my housekeeping chores in as smooth a way as possible. Especially since I have at least 4 tiers worth of crafting components in my bank.. I feel like I can not even craft using the default bags it is such a hassle finding stuff.

Looks like agood start, but some issues, which is exactly what happened a week or two ago when they put this change in originally and a couple folks designed some mods.

1. With any bag mod but the original, it has become a real issue dragging items (icons) around. It is about 50/50 on whether you will actually grab the item to move it or your mouse comes away empty. The chance of grabbing the item if it is in a slot on the edge of the bag is more like 20/80, meaning the item does not move, more times than not.

2. All the new mods also share an issue.. which is invisable space above or below the bag that is grabbable. Even though my bags are not overlapping and have a few pixles between them, I get the bag above selected and moving when I attempt to grab the title bar of a bag to move it. This wasn't a big deal when I used to be able to click and drag a bag using any empty space in the middle, but now that it is "required" that you drag via title bar.. it is a HUGE issue.

I have a feeling that these issues are more with the new way the system has of doing things, than the actual mods themselves, as all I checked looked fairly simple and straightforward.

Bottome line: No one (of the 4 I tried) has been able to get the new bag mods to work flawlessly or even smoothly. Being as this is probably the single most important/used type mod in the game (possible exception being the map mod), I hope SOE gets it working well. I do not want to make going to the bank or just opening my inventory an exercise in frustration, thats the little sort of thing that drives people (like me) away.

Message Edited by Kwoung on 11-04-2006 11:05 AM

Some more info..

Sslian, the bag mod you wrote seem to have an entire extra invisable row on the right and bottom that is grabbable (and overlaps the nearby bags, unless you space them way way apart). It is the same issue I (and everyone else it seems) was having when trying to write a new bag mod, no matter what I tried to fix it.

Yeah, that's been driving me nuts trying to find out how to overcome that. I thought I had my numbers mixed up somewhere, but no matter what I try, that row is there. I also removes the overlay parts of the bags, but it didn't make any difference (in anything actually, why are they there anyway?)

I'm not happy with how this is going, but at least I can use this until someone who knows better can make a fully functional one.

That UI builder just confuses me completely.

Well it just became a real drag, I could not select a shard to get mana on a raid just now. I seem to not be able to access the slot the shards are in.. or I just can not click them.
Message Edited by Kwoung on 11-04-2006 07:18 PM
