<DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Since just about the time 26a was patched to Test, I've been having problems logging in Vyviel.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It started with trouble with the /camp Vyviel command. About half the time I'd try to camp to Vyviel from an alt, I'd be kicked to character select instead. While loading in, it would get to either 'Adding character to zone' or 'Loading UI resources', hang, and bounce me to character select.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Since then, the problem's been getting worse. Using /camp Vyviel never works now - and for a time only restarting the client and logging straight in as Vyviel would let her load in. Then, that started to only work maybe half the time - once again hanging at either of the two aforementioned points (though, over the last several days it's almost always been hanging at 'Loading UI resources') then kicking out to character select. Then, only quitting out of EQ2 and rebooting my computer would allow Vyv to log in. And as of today, I'm having trouble logging her in at all.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've run Full Scans, and deleted her uisettings.ini file several times. Hasn't improved the situation.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And it's only happening with Vyviel. I can /camp between any of my many alts without problem, load in alts from character select or pulldown from launcher just fine, etc. Only Vyviel is so affected.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyone know anything else I can try to fix this? I'm suspecting some corrupted data in the character files somewhere - but don't know enough about the whole thing to have the first idea where to look, or if it's something server-side. Help?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by Deila on <span class=date_text>07-29-2006</span> <span class=time_text>03:48 PM</span>

You arent alone, it is happening with one of my alts too. Rindall. Gets to 'Adding Character to Zone' and hangs there, then boots me back to char select. After a numerous amount of tries I can finally log him in. All other characters have no problem, but it does to take a little longer to get them in than before.

<P>Is Vyviel staying in a certain zone? As in are you experiencing this more in say a city zone when you camp from her? I ran across this before on short order a while back, come to find out it was the zone I had my alt parked in. *shrug*</P> <P>Just a thought. Would have said it was UI based, but since you have reset those already, dont know what else to tell ya. Are you using any sort of custom UI? might have something to do with it.</P>

<P> </P> <P>Nope, all default UI. Lots of toolbars open, and various window frames/opacity settings the way I like, but nothing third-party.</P> <P>Most of the time lately, I've been in Longshadow, but not always. Course, many of my alts parked out in Longshadow, and had no problems at all. I'd wondered about that too, but didn't see any connection snce it really is just on Vyviel.</P> <P>Glad to hear I'm not alone with this problem. Well, not glad that someone else has this hassle, but at least it seems less likely to be related to my hardware or whatnot.</P> <P>This the kind of thing I should be bugging Tech Help with then? Or someone else? Once upon a time (in SWG), I had some character issues with corrupted character legacy data, and one of the devs helped me clear it up. Dunno what to do here. <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P> </P>

<DIV>A while back I had one char that would crash in strange ways. If I logged in any other character, then switched to this particular one, the game would crash. If I logged that char in first, it was fine.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It even stayed on once I deleted the char and made another one in that slot.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What finally fixed it was deleting *all* the ui and .ini files on that computer (actually I moved them to another folder). Which for some reason worked. I haven't really chased it more than that.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As a side note, it seems like some ui info is saved somewhere else. When i delete all my uisettings and log in, my chat window has two tabs...set up the way I did at one point. I even removed the ui defaults and some others like that, and still got those tabs. This is without doing loadui.</DIV>

Exactly the same thing - chat tab info, and chat options were still stored after I'd deleted out the uisettings.ini file, and without loading another copy in. No idea where those are being stored though.</P> <P> </P>

<P> </P> <P>A bit more info on this issue. I'm to the point now where I can only log Vyviel in if I do so very soon after launching EQ2. Earlier today, I'd logged in on an alt initially, and within about two minutes tried /camp Vyviel - and it actually worked. Camped back to an alt shortly thereafter, and 30 minutes later /camp Vyviel again started to hang at Loading UI resources, and then booted me to Character Select.</P> <P>None of this is affecting any of my other characters still.</P> <P>Also now without fail, if I get to a point where I cannot log Vyviel in (by either /camp Vyviel or camping out to Character Select and choosing her), the only way the game will let me log her in is if I exit the EQ2 client, completely reboot my computer, and relaunch EQ2. I've tried every other combination I can think of, but only rebooting my machine will allow her to log in - and only if it's within just a few minutes of starting the EQ2 client. Were I more tech-savvy about how the game actually works, it seems this might provide a clue as to what's going on.</P> <P>Hildy asked me to mention here that she's having the same problem I've described, on Souki. Another of my guildies has reported one of his characters having the same login problems as well. And I've recently seen a thread on the forums here where various people on live servers are describing the same (or very similar) issue - and in all cases, it seems to be affecting only one of the players' characters. Hope you dev-types are close to tracking this one down - very frustrating issue, to say the least.</P> <P> </P>

Whatever it is that is affecting these characters...it went live with LU26. So it isnt on our end.
