It looks to me like the calculation for vendor value is no longer taking into account the value of the raws, nor is it accounting for multiple products.

(just a bit of history for those who may not have been around)

Around the time fuel prices were adjusted for different teirs (used to be just candles, coal, etc) a formula was put in place where crafted items would 'track' their cost to create, based on fuel value, multiple products, etc. This was set so that you would make a small amount of coin for what you craft if you sold to the vendor. If you actually calculated it out, there was about 1s per raw (t4/t5 range) profit on the items.

(end of history lesson )

According to someone in chat today, for one recepie (don't know which one, I think it was an armor peice) happened to provide exactly the fuel cost to create it. I looked at crafted food, and found that my pristine whatever, also sold for exactly the fuel cost...except that I received two because of the pristine. Based on this, I think both of these factors have been left out of the price calculation. There are specific recepies where the value was also less, so there may be some other issues in here.

I have a hard time beleiving this is an intentional change, because it leavs some crafts with no vendor profit, and some with a significant profit (alchemy potions producing multiples was mentioned in chat as an example of this), but if it IS intentional, it would be nice to get some guidance as to how it is supposed to work, because it doesn't seem to make sense as is.

I was that armorer =)

Aye, that is it exactly. Anything that results in a single product is selling back for only fuel cost. There is no allowance for raws at all.

If a pristine combine results in multiple product, the sellback of those pay out more than the cost of the fuel.

If this is intentional, in my opinion, the final nail has been driven into the crafting coffin. The profit from raw allowances was not that big. People werent getting filthy rich from it and if they buy their raws, even at one copper each, they are selling to the vendor at a loss. And vendor selling will be the wave of the future since crafted items are...in a word...crap compared to loot drops.
