Okies, 'we finally got enough ppl up to the part of the prismatic quest to be able to go after the 4 drakotas for the rings that would allow us to take on Darathar.

Tonight, the plan was Fallen Gate, Bloodskull valley (deathfist citadel) and fyremist gully mobs.

Fallen gate, went smooth with no hang ups. even though these are now grey mobs.

Now, off to Bloodskull Valley to talk to the orc to be sent to the Deathfist Citadel (assault instance) as a 3 group raid force, we get the message that you must have between 1-6 members in your group to enter. huh?...

checked out the mob on ogaming to find out he is only a heroic mob with 2 buddies lvl 55 ^^^ 55 ^^ and 55^...no prob, drop groups from raid and each enter it own instance and take out mobs right?..sounded good to us too.

So now we have roughly 2. 5 groups not in a raid...well at least I didnt have a raid window up nor could I see raid chat.

We zone in without problem, this is looking good...find the mob where he is supposed to be...suprise!

We mentor down to make him green, attack with all the force of screaming hamsters and emerge victorious!

Wait a minute....no update..and why is my raid window back up showing us still in the raid..does the zone think we are in a raid force and therfore will not cough up the update?..you got it...boinked out of that update for now SIX days!

Oh well, so be it. off to firemyst gulley to take on the "last" of the drakotas ( we had taken one out in cazic last week)

We take off in full raid force, attacking the mob with all we got. He's got a friend. We drop both mobs, I get the quest update DING and even see the text on the screen that I recieved the translocation ring from whateverhisname is.

But low and behold my journal did NOT update. I see no record of my update from said mob anywhere in the quest journal.

Well poo, now what do I do?

Seems as though this quest line is riddled with mis information and somewhat tempermental updates.

Will check my journal again after this patch (on friday night nonetheless) and see if anything has changed.

Wish me luck.

Yep, looks like we now know pretty certainly what that Regent Grozmag step was supposed to be for - enabling the Firemyst drakota to actually update the quest. Even when we got the onscreen popup and ding! quest update notifications.

I think in this quest series, if there are steps that must be completed before getting other updates (translocation rings), those should be prior needed steps in the journal. Like finding the half-dead orc guy in Bloodskull Valley, and the Regent Grozmag step. Seems like most people wind up just heading straight for spoiler sites, since there's no real intuitive way to proceed on these. Trial and error methods, when sending full raid forces out, can get tedious in my opinion. The challenge should be in finding ways to defeat the raid mobs - not so much in having to go trial and error with the process that the game wants to give a proper update once the raid mob is defeated.

As it is now, this whole prismatic line kinda has many missing clues or steps (steps for rezzing Vox in Fire and Ice, for example - to this day, seems to be guesswork to figure out the steps to do it until you find out from someone else). Guess my point is that I'd like to see a bit more information in major quest progressions like these in the quest itself. Doesn't need to be full hand-holding, just something to go on. 'We need to resurrect the Lady Vox' kinda leaves you out in the cold. Finding where the lairs of Deception drakota is great and all - but how would you know that you had to do some other step before the killing of said drakota would actually advance the quest?

Yeah, this was a whole set of weirdness. We went and did the BSV raid without trouble, then the zone in Fallen Gate.So we got to Zek, and we went to DFC, and then we found we couldn't get in as a raid. I know my group (I was in Cimee's) either dropped or was kicked from the raid. Pond says his group was also. And we zone in... and there's the raid window. And it says the entire raid force is in the zone -- you know, white names, not grey. But only our group was in the zone. Each of the three groups went and killed the name, and no updates. Why? Because we're a raid force 15 strong, the game thinks. So we zone out. Poof! The raid window is gone. *but* I can still see /raidsay. I can't type to it, however, because I am not in a raid. ALT+R shows up as (properly) empty. It was very, very strange. I can't figure out why it re-raided us on zoning in, let along re-de-raidig us on zoneout.[By the way, just for reference: G3 was me, Volgrant, Cimee, Sepiid, and Slambo when all the weirdness occurred.]

Message Edited by EtoilePB on 05-19-2006 11:41 PM

And only some (like Kella) had the de-raiding on zoning out. I still had my raid window there after we zoned back out, and could post to /raidsay just fine, though I was in a different group than she was.

Definite high-weirdness.

I had the same empty raid window that K had and could not speak in raid, but I could hear chat there. I think those groups that were *kicked* or dropped from raid were the ones bugged like that.

Not sure cause the journal still says we need the ring from the drakota we saw in BSV. The Firemyst drakota was a seperate drakota all on its own, like the CT one and FG one. just the BSV, DFC ones were supposed to be linked in any way.

Wonder if we went back to BSV, we could actually engage the drakota that was present but not attackable. *shrug*

When I did Deception on live, we didn't even bother going into BSV to see the orc. Completed the entire quest and got our prismatics just fine.

Maybe another issue with the quest series - that orc is not required for anything.

Edit: adding that granted, that run on live was some time ago, so not sure if anything's changed on that. I'd assumed not though.

Message Edited by Deila on 05-19-2006 08:44 PM
