Found this bug Sat morning and spent a good bit of Sunday morning trying to figure out what the problem is with no luck. Auto attack just randomly stops working. I first noticed it in a group in Sanctum of the Scaleborn during a 2 pull with an add. For some reason even though I had hit auto attack I was not hitting the mob at all unless using a combat ability. Tried camping the first time I noticed it, came back and on the first mob we pulled I attacked fine but the second mob again nothing. Today I tried a bit solo trying to recreate the issue and maybe find out what was causing it. killed 15 scaleborn sentries for a writ and when I got the quest reward box auto attack stoped working. I camped and came back and it still would not work. I then zoned and came back to TT and it worked fine for a couple of mobs then again stoped working completely. during one of the encounters when it was not working I couldn't start any HO's because I kept getting the message " you must be engaged in combat to use this ability". when I hit a CA I could then start a HO but auto attack was still not happening. I tried about everything I could think of to figure out why this was happening but it appears to be almost completely random. Please take a look into this.Labb Accident<Children of War>Test Server

Pond was complaining of the same thing last night -- said his auto-attack just kind of randomly went away. I've had problems with it on Kella, too, but I didn't manage to catch any details because I was worried about other bugs, heh.

I was in BSV last night trying to get parts for Orc L&L, and against large mobs of greys I noticed that for very long stretches of time my auto attack wasn't firing at all. No animation, no combat spam. Then it would fire again, work for a minute, then stop working again.

I have no abilities that should turn off auto attack, so I'm not sure what's going on.

I have been noticing the same issue with Cimee, even though he is not a stronghold of melee and auto attack, he too was having random drops from ability to attack melee style. No real pattern to it either. Some times i could hit the mob and sometimes I couldnt. These were found on all types and cons of mobs from drakotas to ravacets ranging from grey to orange cons heroics and non heroics.

Even tried changing out the weapons from wands to scepters to maces. Nothing seem to show any sort of pattern.

Message Edited by Kadurm on 03-13-200607:17 PM

Same issues here, mostly on my Shadowknight alt (I don't see it much, being a Necromancer). I've tried a variety of things trying to trigger it, but it just seems to be random. Different weapons, different combat art/spell combinations, using only auto attack, using three different methods of initiating auto attack (tilde key, F key on mouseover and Melee Attack from the hotbar), using AEs, not using AEs, etc.

Sometimes it breaks every fight. Other times I can go an hour or more with auto attack working just fine.

Thusfar, only relogging or zoning will fix the issue, and then only temporarily.

For some reason, all of the scouts I've talked to do not seem to be affected by the auto-attack bug, including my own Ranger. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!) It seems to be fighter classes and priest classes, at least in my own guild. That's only a small sample, to be sure. I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this.

I checked out the scout thing with my 26 swashbuckler, since I thought it might be account related. No issues at all with his auto attack. Same with my warlock, no issues at all with auto attack. Sorry I dont have a priest class to check it out with. My wife plays priest classes exclusively and has yet to have a problem but she rarely uses auto attack since she is usualy woriking her tail off trying to keep me alive.Labb Accident<Children of War>Test Server

Message Edited by Tadok on 03-14-200605:27 PM

I am seeing this on my defiler and my templar both. My wife is also seeing it on her templar. Others in our guild are reporting it on various priest and fighter classes as well.

Without ryme or reason, auto attack stops working. The character's combat animation does not engage and parses, chat window damage reports do not show them doing anything except their CA's/Spells. Auto attack may or may not resume on it's own. When is does work it might work for 1 fight or for an hour.

My wife and I have tried various methods to create a work around for this but nothing seems to resolve it. We cannot cause it reliably either. It happens totally at random. I am sure there is a cause for this but we do not have the necessary resources to track it to the source.

I was thinking about something, with fighters and priest being mostly if not all the ones involved, could there be a possibility with crushing weapons and or abilities doing this?. I know most fighters dont use a crushing weapon, but they still have that skill avaliable to them. And of course priest are almost exclusive to crushing except for piercing on defilers and swords on furies and such. Just a thought to try and narrow this down some.

This was written by Zeral498, known on Test as Volgrant, a guildmate of mine:All of you have experienced him. He's the monstrosity of the abyss. The thorn in your posterior. The bane of your existence.THE NOTORIOUS AUTO ATTACK BUG!!And we have conquered the bloody thing. As usual we were discussing about the AA bug in the /test channel when Alana, a SWASHBUCKLER, a SCOUT, (scouts never got the AA bug), said she got it once before. After having her describe her experience, Alwyn the Brilliant said, "Maybe it has something to do with dual wield?" Alana, when she got the bug, was using a 1-handed weapon apparently. So we connected the dots. This is what we found out to trigger the bug:1. The auto-attack bug occurs only when you are using a 2-handed weapon or 1 handed weapon with an empty secondary.2. The auto-attack bug occurs when you use a CA, and then change your current target.Since most scouts use dual wield, they never experienced the bug, and everyone else did. Similarily, some fighters also never experienced it because they were using dual wield weaponry. So, the current work-around to the bug is to make sure you have a shield equipped, or use dual wield. Thanks to Igram and our new QA Venos for checking it out. Venos is short like Igram by the way. He also has a cool hat.~~My husband and I were able to duplicate his findings, and it was consistent for us. My autoattack never breaks on my scout unless I use a one-hander and change the target. Hope this helps.

Here's what we have for near 100% reproducibility of the bug:If you have a ranged weapon equipped, unequip it.You need to start out of range of the target, but within Line of Sight. Start auto attack up - make sure you get the message "Your target is too far away! Move closer!'Before coming into range, turn around to break Line of Sight with the target - your error message should change to "You cannot see your target"Now turn back around and close to melee range. Auto Attack should now be broken until you zone.(This has worked 100% for some people, others aren't having the same results - but if it works for you, it should ALWAYS work)EDIT: New simplest form of this seems to simply be:1. Have auto attack on AND LoS to target2. Lose LoS to target.3. AA is broken. This does NOT work to reproduce with a ranged weapon equipped, and may also not work with dual wield weapons (No verification here). It should work for 1 handed and 2 handed weapons.

Message Edited by Ceruline on 03-15-200604:54 PM
