Hello.

I'd really appreciate if while passing through Antonica or the Commonlands you give the Erollisi Day event a shot and give me a little feedback.

I ran through this today after the patch.

Comments

1. Turning up the LOD on particles makes them easier to see, but it may also help if there were a ground object (not just particle) that you could see. Not everyone runs with particles maxed, and changing gfx options for one quest is maybe not the best answer.

2. I spent a few seconds trying to figure out how to harvest the essense, and was about to conclude that it was bugged, when I got close enough to trigger it. I'd suggest either making them harvestable, or expand the radius around them a little bit.

3. The quest (with the check box next to find each type) makes it look like you need 1 of each. These didnt update, and I almost stopped thinking it was bugged. The text in the journal says find as many in the time, so I figured it out, but it was confusing.

4. I had several of the essences despawn on me (3-4 in the 15 min), seems like they shouldnt do that.

Rewards

Did this twice and got two different candles (house items). Not sure if this is teired like the holloween qeust was (get enough points for a better reward), or just random rewards. The candles have a neat particle effect in the house. (didn't check to see if they have status reduction or not).

Bcbroom's comments pretty much reflect my experience.I had graphics on "Balanced" (which is higher than i use on Live) and on the first run I only found 3 spawns. After reading the comments above I set all my particle options to Maximum and had no problem finding spawns.I liked the automatic collect, but it is a new feature (to me at least) and it might well confuse people. The Journal really ought to update the running totals, too, just so you can see it's working. I also thought it was bugged at first.Stinky in The Commonlands doesn't have a Quill over his head, so I missed him the first time (I play with all names off by default). He ought to have one, really.Apart from that, I liked the quest a lot. Fifteen minutes is an ideal duration and once you can actually see the spawns you are pretty much guaranteed to succeed (well, on Test you are - may be a different story on Live with dozens of people competing for them hehe). The three different varieties give it some obvious replayability, and with the reward being a house item I can see people doing it many times over, 'cos you can never have too many candles.Edit: I have now done the quest four times.First time was a failure for reasons given above.Second and third time easy successes. By chance I got different candles each time so I decided to go once more and only "loot" the third color (red) which I was missing. It was a bit harder, as I wasn't clearing the spawns so extensively and had to run around more, but I thought I had got plenty. However, on returning to Stinky and giving him the 9 red hearts I had collected, he told me it wasn't enough. As he talks all the time about not being able to count above 5, and your character's response to him assures him that you are giving him more than 5 when you do the hand-in, I thought that the trigger for success would be 5. Maybe he needs 5 of each type, but if so I don't think this is clear enough in the text. After 4 times, all the running around and changing direction has made me feel ill, but I will try again another time and see if it needs a minimum of 5 of each type, with the one you want being more than the other two types.
Message Edited by Bhagpuss on 01-31-200607:29 PM

I ran the quest twice in the Commonlands; I don't have any Qeynosian characters over level 8 so I can't try the Anotonica one, hehe.I had two of my three particle settings maxed and the third almost maxed on the first run (sorry, I forget which was which now). I only found 11 hearts! On the second run I turned up the remaining particle setting to max. I found 39 hearts on my second run, but the game was lagging so badly in most zones with that setting up that I can't see why anyone would ever play that way. (And I have a pretty decent system.)There were a couple of essences that I got "stuck" on, that I kept running into like material objects and that couldn't be harvested. It was strange. Also, since the candle you get seems to depend on which essence type you have the most of... what's the point of galloping hither and yon getting as many as you can? People who harvested over 100 in Antonica (I DON'T see how) reported getting the same rewards I received for 11 and 39 in the Commonlands. I thought it would be more like trick-or-treating, with better prixes for higher performance.I agree with the other two about the quest journal, too -- those non-updating ticky boxes are highly confusing. I didn't realize I literally had the essences in my bag until I went to do the turn-in the first time.

Just did this quest like 4 times..some things I noted..in the commonlands, its hard enough to see the essences on standard settings..but add the ever lasting rain of the commonlands to this and they are near impossible to see until you run right over them.

Stinky seems a bit long winded on the first run through (skipped the talking after the first one)

I agree that the journal should update or at least give you some sort of running count as you go. Unless this is in place for the random chance at candles.

On my best run, I got 175 essenses total, not sure if this is a high number or not...but thats my best run.

Overall, I like this one much better than the last valentines run for both the simplicity and the items recieved.

Someone mentioned that it appeared a few ppl might be exploiting the quest for xp. Just standing next to the quest giver, waiting for their time to run out, not collecting anything, and then turning it in for xp. Rinse, repeat...

Might wanna switch it up so you actually have to collect something.
