I really think this may need some rethinking. Now bear in mind I haven't played with it much because I use my own custom UI and haven't redone my inventory window for the new slots but..The good of this is it saves 2 inventory slots. Not really much but I guess its something. However the bad of this.. as I see it.. is that those of us who do not auto eat will be presented with a very unwieldy system. You will need to place the food and drink into the inventory slots. Right click on them to consume, then unequip them back to your bags. Thats a royal PITA in my opinion whereas before we could just right click and eat/drink direct from inventory. Please PLEASE at least still allow us to eat/drink from inventory without equipping.

No right-clicking. I deleted the Inventory file from the UI I use so that I could check this one out tonight. (I like the blue, by the way.) Shift+click to drag one food item (rather than a stack) into the new slot. Do it again because that was drink and it can't go in the food slot. (Sigh.) Drink immediately disappears from the slot, giving two messages. (1) You consume Watery Maj'Dul Coffee, and (2) something about being out of drink. What I don't like is that putting a stack there is tantamount to /drink and /eat. Because those are notoriously wasteful, and provisnioning's too hard to go being wasteful with.

the slots are great! just disable the /auto on them and let us choose to /auto or not

More slots are always better, but most players find the autoconsumption is very wastefull

Minnah Mousze

Agreed. Disable the auto drink on the slots, cause frankly that is just aweful. I never auto drink and eat and I am a provisioner. So, if we have to use different slots it is just infuriating to have to equip the food and drink every time. But, if I can put a stack there, and drink when I want then I would be happy with the new slots. ~Eva

Another , IMHO, big strike against this new system is that the addition of two new slots really ruins the layout of the inventory window. First of all there are TONS AND TONS of inventory window mods that various people use. Everyone of these is now COMPLETELY useless unless updated. Some will get updated, some won't. People using inventory windows that are no longer maintained by the authors are now SOL. I know this isn't really Sony's fault but its something to consider. Good will and all that. Others that do update them will quite possibly have a lot of trouble doing so, and yet others -- well to be perfectly honest these new slots totally screw up the layout. Even on the DEFAULT ui window they look tacked on and throws off the nice layout.I seriously, SERIOUSLY, ask you all to consider just allow us to eat/drink from bags like we used to be able to do. Keep the new inventory slots if you wish, but allow us to go by the old system as well. It solves all the problems. That way even people using old inventory windows can still eat/drink. As it is now we can't.I use my own custom UI and I havent' even updated my inventory window yet. Why? Believe it or not to make it look good its a massive change to the window for those two slots without making it look tacky.

For what it's worth.... I like the new system as well, but mechanically it doesn't fit in with the game. Most games with food/drink require you to eat/drink or suffer a penalty. If this was the case in EQ2, the new slots would be perfect. However, eating/drinking in EQ2 isn't required, it is a bonus. Food and drink in EQ2 "improve" stats and regen rates, but you could play just fine without ever eating or drinking in EQ2. So for immersion, the idea is great. For those playing the "system", it's a hassle.

Hate to be the bearer... well, I don't hate it, but y'know... Earlier today, I hopped on the griifon after finding an egg clutch and as I was flying in my chat bar I received nine messages in rapid succession informing me I had just drank the last nine flasks of water in my drink slot. I scrolled back and noticed I had not been drinking when I should have been, all the time I was on before the griff ride, so it looks like the game was just catching up. However, before more grief is released... might wanna take a peaky poo.
