<DIV>(forgive me...I'm sure this will open a big can of worms)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There are some issues with server channels being open to all servers that bothers me</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1.  The inability to list those who are listening to the channel.  You can do /whochannel, but this only returns those on YOUR server that are subscribed.  So it is impossible to tell who is listening at any time.  Why should I care? Well, when something new comes out (like the halloween stuff) many on Test try it out.  Very often issues are discussed in the Test channel.  So if I'm interested in being the first on my server to finish the new quest, what I should do (on a live sever) is just /join test and listen in.  This does actually happen.  What people sometimes do is create a new channel...but this is announced, so this doesn't really help.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2. You cannot ignore someone cross server.  This is the usual way on test do deal with annoying people in the channel.  Unless things have changed, you cant do that for channel traffic for someone on another server.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The best solution would be if you could only join a channel on test server if you are actually on test server.  Or, leave test channel open to cross server, but other channels are not. This way, we could create a qa or halloween channel and be able to discuss issues without having to worry about info leaking out.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, before I get any flack about this, it is not because test people are better than live people, or live not being good enough for our chat, or any of the other stuff test players get accused of.  Just the info leaking out on new stuff, and the inability to ignore some [Removed for Content] who spams the channel from another server.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

During beta, those of us on Beta could not use a server-wide beta channel for just the same reasons you describe.  In that case there was an NDA in effect, so it was not a matter of being able to ignore people or knowing who was in the channel, it was a matter of abiding by SoE's rules.  If it had been possible to create a Beta-only channel, beta may have gone just that much better, due to an enhanced ability to communicate. I join you in hoping that someone at SoE is working on the ability to create channels that are restricted to single-server use only. Edowen <div></div>
