Last night I did the forced respec of my 50 monk. I took every opportunity offered to increase her agility. Overall I must have increased her unbuffed agility by at least 10%, maybe more. As I added to her agility I kept my eye on her avoidance. It never changed.

Agility used to increase one's avoidance. I don't remember any patch notes that said that was changed. Further, after doing the respec I buffed my monk. Then her avoidance did increase. So the problem, if there is one, is not with avoidance per se. It is with agility seeming to not do what it was originally supposed to.

Edowen

P.S. Various traits that increase agility still say that increasing agility means you don't get hit as much. So either the descriptions are now wrong or avoidance should be getting bumped up when those traits are chosen.

Message Edited by Edowen on 09-09-2005 04:51 PM

All I can say is ahh crap. I bet this is similar to the Intelligence bug where no matter your agility, you have maximum avoidance. This would explain why my wizard has 47% agility.

If so, this is huge since we are giving feedback on mod strength with over charged characters. Mobs are probably much tougher then we think.

Just checked this out - removing agi jewelery and my avoidance did shift all over the place. Removed non-agi jewelry and my avoidance did not move.

So, agility at some levels is affecting avoidance. I only have 71 agility btw.

Ok, intelligence does affect - it stops at 90 int. Wonder if agi is 90 as well. Since I cannot get any higher...

Agility is capped at 90 as for affecting your avoidance.

The only purpose for agility is avoidance. It's pretty easy to get 90 agi. A cap at 90 means that amid-high level gear with agi stats really is not worth very much, and that monks (who are fighters and can only wear leather so can't get much in the mitigation department) are pretty much toast.

So much for my 50 monk, alas, especially any hope of soloing her. Her avoidance won't be able to keep up with the mobs. Their str is not capped at 90, that's for sure. /weep

Edowen

just posted this in the similar int-related thread, but will post it again here:

from eq2players.com combat changes update-

The effectiveness of Strength, Agility, Intelligence, and Wisdom buffs has been increased. The effective cap is set at 7 times the character's level. For example, a level 30 fighter will receive an increasing melee damage bonus up to 210 Strength, while a level 40 wizard will receive an increasing bonus to spell damage up to 280 Intelligence.

so i would say it is definitely bugged. you shouldnt cap out til 350 agility

(jigs)

edited - now in color!

Message Edited by Jiggers on 09-09-2005 10:02 PM
