Since the water-breathing spells now allow you to walk underwater as well as breathe, I think there may be a potential problem. The spell makes the character act like the water is not there at all.

So you may, for example, jump off the docks at Lavastorm to do a bit of fishing, not realising the water is so deep, and hit the bottom like a stone, getting hit for 2474 damage. Then die. Perhaps :smileytongue:

There is also the potential for griefing. "Oh you need water breathing? I can do that for you but I have to be grouped with you. There, now go ahead and jump into the water." My defiler has a group water breathing/walking spell. I cast it on myself and when a group member got near me he dropped like a stone. luckily he had enough hit points that when he dropped to the bottom of the ocean in EF he didn't die. So I suggest looking into that particular spell a bit closer. Btw I like the water walking cause it would make water fights much better (and auto follow underwater would be easier) just was a big surprise to lose my small damage proc on my eb =(

Firgured well I will put EB on and hit the group EB spell...look up and realize ouch! I just took 2200 dmg from falling to the bottom of the water I was swimming in. Thankgod I had 3k hps at the time :smileyvery-happy:

HEH.. same thing just happened to me last night.. i was playing my paladin Trindelle in the cove, staring octo directly in the eye waiting for the word to start the fight.. I had haddens earing on, so didnt need anything as far as water breathing was concerned.. one of our other group members was having problems, so mr. oogs went out and cast a water breathing spell on her.. next thing i know, I'm prostate on the ocean floor in front of octo with a -2164 floating above my head in red. and sayin.. umm.. what happened...

Also, as others of us found out, you can't get out of the water if the spell's still on! You're stuck to the bottom and can't climb the sides -- we had to cancel the spell in order to be able to climb out of the water. And in someplace like EF, swimming is your only option. That said, though, I might like to try the Outer Grotto with the ability to walk on the bottom. Fighting in there was miserable before but it might be better now... just with low visibility.

My personal feeling was that although it was fairly humorous watching Trin drop like a rock when my group EB spell hit, and despite the fact that bear forms cant swim worth a dam, this underwater walking is worthless. Many of the water mobs can swim....how is it that we're supposed to approach them?

Not everyone has a Fishbone Earring, which is the whole point of the group spell. Using the solo spell splits up the group.

Get rid of the underwater walking effect, I'd rather swim, or bear paddle as the case may be....

Oogly, 42 Mystic, Test Server

<Ancient Treachery>
