Looking forward to some of the proposed fixes and getting the opportunity to leave feedback and bugs for them. Are these going to happen before or after the expansion release in August/September? I ask because it's July already and wouldn't you predict a certain degree of disorder if both are released at the similar times? I was kinda hoping that the changes would have made it to test by now so we would have had lots of time to test and tweak at leisure before the level cap increases.

Edit for spelling

Message Edited by Shunidar on 07-05-2005 11:45 AM

Hehe, they just now posted that we're getting TU12 and combat changes not this week, but the week of 7/11. Crossed threads I suppose. Big changes a-comin'!

This was kind of covered in the producer's letter (and various posts on DevTracker). But, for the latest... go look at Moorgard's latest post. No patch this week for Test. LU #12 will be hitting testing next week, and combat changes will be showing up again 'shortly' (not as part of LU #12).

The impression I got at fan faire was that they are aiming to put out the combat changes shortly after the expansion. They were maddeningly vague whenever anyone asked a direct question about it, but some things they said indirectly idicated that they were not expecting to put out the combat changes before the expansion.

Well, we have been getting them piecemeal so far, so i expect we will see more of the pieces on test as they get them out of internal alpha. I would image once they have pushed most of the pieces to test and pulled them back, we will see the complete package pushed to test. Based on what they have done so far, we will probably only see the ful package for one or two weeks before it goes live. So, my estimate/guess is that we will see the full revamp on test a week or two after the expansions gets to the live servers.

Also bear in mind that they're likely to want to beta the expansion, when it comes around, under the new ruleset (Since that will be how it is experienced in the long term), so we'd have to get the set relatively soon.

Unfortunately, that is exactly what I was afraid of. Believe me, what you say Oakwood makes sense based on what you have learned from FF and the timing we have seen so far, but my concern from initial post was that the expansion was bound to be buggy as crap. Trying to playtest the full combat changes (which are also bound to be buggy) while testing a new expansion with new character levels, encounters, and arts of its own would be a decidedly daunting task. I feel that task would have been easier by getting the combat/arts changes cleaned up well before the expansion. I have concerns about our resources to work out that many game changing issues at once. Granted, it isn't a perfect world, but I think it's a valid concern.
Message Edited by Shunidar on 07-07-2005 07:30 AM

It makes more sense to test the expansion with combat changes in place - after all, the vast majority of time spent playing it will be under the new mechanics.

I anticipate seeing the combat changes here sooner rather than later.

We got the peicemeal changes before...up through some of the spell changes (without the advancement of individual arts/spells and int as a damage modifier). I wonder if the system was totally reworked, or basicly the same as what we saw before.
