I have sent /feedback on this many times since the game went live and Nate suggested that I post something in the Testers Only forum. I think he meant one I don’t have access to yet, but I will post here in hopes someone will notice:

We seriously need a way to adjust the intensity of the visual effects from spells, HO’s, and those bright pops of light during melee. They are way too bright for me and sometimes contribute to lag if there is a lot going on in the vicinity. For people who play in third person this may be less of an issue, but I play in first person so it is a big issue with me.

Presently, I do one of 3 things to block out spell and HO effects and those bright pops of light from melee hits. (1) I just hold my hand up during combat to block off most of the computer screen. (2) I direct my character’s gaze straight down at the ground after I engage the mob. (3) I hit Alt-O and bring up the nice, black Options screen which blocks off a good portion of that bright stuff.

None of those options add very much to the enjoyment of the game, but it is much better than being blinded by all that stuff. Yes, I have adjusted everything – contrast, brightness, and particle effects, etc – and it isn’t enough.

I suggest that we be given adjustment capability so players can then adjust intensity of all visual effects to suit themselves. Very importantly, that adjustment should be capable of toggling those effects all the way off.

Thanks for listening.

~Osric

I saw that post in the test registry forum and replied to it...tell me if I'm wrong here..but cant you turn off spell particles near you to get rid of all the flashy lights?..I know it wont turn your own off..but I think it gets rid of all others.
