<DIV>An idea popped in my head today and the guildies thought it was a good one.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>How about a Racial trait for those "clawed" races that is called "Dig the Claws in" meaning we are immune to knock backs for a set amount of time. Not knock down of course....but immune to those "across the zone" knock backs.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>/discussion on</DIV>

That's a really cool idea, and not much different than say, a bruiser's Close Mind ability which prevents knockdown, stifle, etc. for a set amount of time.I know you said *knockback*.. just making a comparison<div></div>

Man, that would be useful. Pretty much every KoS mob can throw you right off an island...<div></div>

I like the idea but I think you have the race and skill name wrong. It's supposed to be a dwarven racial trait called Stance of the Mountain. Everyone knows dwarfs are masters of the earth and mining. Our roots go very deep. The new Fae race will think they should also get this as one of their racial choices. The skill of course is called Float like a Butterfly. They argue that having wings allows them to counter the effect.etc, etc.Cool idea? Yes. I hope you understand why adding in a new racial ability now would make others feel like they were cheated or why their race of choice should have access to the same ability.<div></div>

They are paper thin! Plus, if I would smack a fae, it would go farther because they are barely manageable as paperweights.</FONT></P> <P>No offense to you Fae's, I want to be one too, im just proving a point!</P>

But I am one to voice my opinions, and I think that the Fae should have a slow fall racial trait. It would just make sense, even paper wings can help you.

Ogres take no falling damage as long as they land head first. Kerrans land on their feet. You can pick a number of reasons for a number of races to have special traits but once one races has abilities none of the others has why chose any other race , well apart from the thought of a pink fairy with flower wings tanking causing you to lose your lunch. </DIV>

<div></div>That brings forth a great idea though, knockback distance should be based on the strength of the person doing the knocking back, and the weight of the person being knocked back. So a Ogre probably ways 400-500 pounds, so you might make them stumble back a couple feet when you slam your shield into thier face but it wouldn't knock them very far. Where as if a Troll drop kicked a gnome, well we know what would happen. <div></div><p>Message Edited by belikeron on <span class=date_text>10-15-2006</span> <span class=time_text>03:40 PM</span>

The point I am trying to make was that if SoE added a new racial trait to just one race that was deemed as desirable, even if only situationally desirable, some people playing the other races would feel cheated. Any player can come up with a reason to justify why they think their race deserves it.The only way I can see it not opening up a can of worms would be to allow the new ability to every race or offer every character a racial respec. If every race gets the ability as an option, it really isn't a racial trait. Well then how about letting me respec my race choice? While I think that too would be an option welcomed by many, there is another group of people that would be upset by that. I remember a thread here asking for one time only racial/gender respecs. About half the replies could be summed up as, "No. Just re-roll you newb. You want everything easy. You'll break my roleplay immersion". While I don't think it was a deserved response, the negative responses were as numerous as the positive ones. Players obviously felt strongly about it on both sides. When the level cap increase comes maybe we will see new racial abilities. I like the idea of your new ability. I dislike that you already limited that idea to a specific race. The topic does say Kerra but you did also mention clawed races so I guess that would include Iksar too. And what of the other races? Can you shoot down the idea of the gnomes and their magnetic boots, or the wood elves harnessing the spirit of nature to stay rooted, etc?I don't see how new abilities could be added without someone claiming it was unfair. I'm sure many would say, "Well if I had known they were going to be adding XXXX ability to race XXXX I would have chosen that race."If SoEs only response is to say "Too bad, suck it up cupcake" there will be more unhappy players than pleased ones. And please, just say "No" to punting the little races farther. Life is hard for them as is. I spend my entire existance on short races staring at crotches and sniffing arses. Sniffing ogre [Removed for Content] all raid long truly is punishment enough <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.<div></div>

It would be nice if at least the adventuring skills could be gained that way in EQ2 but then there would be those saying "not fair" because they couldn't get an entire new tradeskill class since some races have plus 5 to woodworking for example and they play a sage for an Artisian class. <BR></P>
