<DIV>I know this topic is pretty much being run into the ground, but I for one would like to have a choice whether or not I want to craft outside instead of being forced out.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I would like a choice whether or not I want to craft in lag (for me, the big city zones already lag) and with mounts clogging things up even worse.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Honestly, this is a really bad update that is being made worse by the fact that SOE is trying to force us to use it... TS instances should be left where they are so that we can have a choice to have a broker in each district and craft in a well laid out (minus the fact that the book merchants aren't in the instances) and familiar zone...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I could care a flying frack less if SOE decides to implement their worst idea ever so long as they leave the instances in place... my whole reason for making crafters is so that I can make my own stuff and not have to pay the often times outrageous prices of others. Agree. Sony please don't go down the road where you decide that you know what's best for the players/payers. Crafters must be able to decide where they will craft and the overwhelming majority have stated that they prefer the instances, not the lag ridden, overcrowded, griefing prone areas you are attempting to create.

I agree. I havent had a chance to see things on test yet, but we should have the choice to be able to craft in instances if we want to.<div></div>

<P>What a ludicrous idea to put he crafting stations outside and to do away with the instances.</P> <P>Never have I heard so much codswallop and hype to some pointless idea. Instead of using manpower to come up with this crap, fix whats broken. Release the expansion early, as nearly every 70 is bored out of his/hers skull, and u SoE come up with this little gem.</P> <P> </P> <P>WHAT A LOAD OF TOSH !!!!</P>

<P>Actually... they did this in SWG. Crafting tables of all types were placed around outside for everyone to use, and they were of a lesser quality. This made it better for the crafters who could engineer the particular crafting equipment that the player needed in order to make goods, and these items could be placed in the player house. Those player crafted table were the best available as well.</P> <P>I think this would be a good change if the game was not so lag oriented for a large number of people. Right now, I cant see this as a feasable change until player made crafting stations are put in game for general purchase and until they fix some of the lag associated to some of the zones in the game.</P>

OMG, Yes! I just logged out of test (hadnt been in quite awhile) and almost cried trying to find a crafting station let alone try to do a work order! PLEASE do not remove the TS Instances, they are THE home for 7 out of my 8 toons!!!

<DIV>My concern is that they're doing this to free up instance servers, maybe save some money or use them for EoF, and I worry that our houses are next... It's similar to a feeling I got when we merged, that the game as established is being cut away at to make it cheaper to run. What fat will be trimmed next? Will they cut out the instances in Zek next? Make Deathfist contested? Turn all of the instanced raids to contested, and therefore nowhere near as enjoyable as a story arc...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>How far will it go? If I lose my house, I'm out, and I think that's definitely coming. I have a bad feeling that it will happen around or before expansion 5.</DIV>

How much does it cost them/month to run a server? These days hardware is CHEAP, memory is CHEAP. Bandwidth is CHEAP. What's the huge cost savings going to be? Do you think they'd spoil game content for this?</P> <P>The point of the updates should be to bring in new accounts and subscriptions -- thus increasing revenue. Why try to cut marginal costs for a game you're hoping to expand soon and draw in a larger player base?</P> <P>Doesn't make sense.. there has to be something else behind this. It's too awlful an idea not to have a better reason than this.</P>

A little paranoia is healthy, look at all of the pro SOE remarks I sparked.</P> <P>I love this game... this particular change seems to have no good reason behind it, except maybe the addition of new types of workstations for EoF, and no place to put them in the current instances. Was it ever that big of a deal that people could stay indoors and craft? Please, one person who found it offensive, speak up. Tell us what you really hated about it. Explain what makes having more people around you, observing you, actually better... is this a performance piece? do you really do a lot of other typing when you tradeskill? </P> <P>And it doesn't matter how cheap hardware is, there's always someone at the top saying "reduce inventory". It's the nature of many corporations to take good ideas and work on ways to make them cheaper. Sometime that makes the product slightly inferior to the previous version, but not so inferior that you lose customers. It's the job I do every day, taking machines and changing materials, thicknesses, processes, planning, suppliers... all for designs that work just fine as they are.</P>

<DIV>Please do not derail my thread please... I made this so that SOE could see (without all the flames and rants of other threads) that we as crafters very much dislike this update and would like a choice as to where we craft.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>They can implement this crappy idea if they want to, just so long as they do not take away the instances... <DIV>Time to burst bubbles! I believe that Sony knows what they are doing... I am thinking that 1/3 of the update is up. Sony knows what their servers and the people's pcs can and cannot handle. Plus during the playtest they took what we said into consideration. I think in the end they will make the correct decisions. </DIV>

I think this will have the opposite effect of integrating crafters and adventurers. Crafters will buy their own stations and do so in their own homes thus isolating them even more than they were before. If this goes live I'm going full house crafting for all my toons. No way I'm crafting in the street. Besides all the detrimental gameplay issues it just doesnt make any sense at all. Imagine going into your local pizza house and casually walking up to and using their pizza oven for your own crafting! Crazy, loopy idea. <div></div>
