Yep.  No Official Word on an ETA.  We'll get it when it's done.

With the exception of the updates that the Marketing Department forces them to anounce, those tied to adventure and expantion paks, the devs NEVER tell us when an update will go live. However, based on prevous experiance live updates are published about a week or two after the final part of a publish goes to test center. The rub is they also never tell us how many parts are comming to test, in fact we only know there are multiple parts because they are called update Xa or Xb. I think update 13 went to like 13g or something like that, though this was the one that changed the combate system, and included DoFs launch.

<P><FONT color=#33ccff>Allow me to refer back to my previous response from another thread...</FONT></P> <P><FONT color=#33ccff>"What I have generally noticed is that the LU's, or GU's now, generally hit live servers the following Wednesday <EM>after</EM> the "last" part of the update. So assuming that GU27 doesn't have any more parts, I would expect it to go live on the 30th. This is just my general rule of thumb, and as someone already pointed out, you rarely are told how many parts will be involved. In the end, updates are generally pushed out when they are ready. That's about as truely specific and accurate as it seems to get!"</FONT></P>

<P>Within the past 2 hours, a post was added to the <FONT color=#ff9900>Network Status & Upcoming Updates</FONT><FONT color=#ffffff> section on the right side. We are going down at 7AM on Monday 8/28/06 for a Game Update. Is GU27 going live tomorrow, or is SOE just not getting their own terminology correct?</FONT></P> <P> </P>

Dymus indicated that another set of changes for the TS Writs was going to go in Monday to fix some of the outstanding bugs in them. I don't think we will see GU 27 this week probalby next week though.

That was my thought - Dymus said all the TS changes didn't make the last Test patch, and they'd get pushed to Test this week.  I hope it's a miscommunication.

"Game Update" appears to be their terminology of choice for the moment. You'll also notice the updates forum is now called "Game Updates" -- even though they changed "Live Updates" to be "Game Updates" now, they seem to be making any kind of patch into a "Game Update" -- only not a numbered one.<div></div>

<P>It's only a 1 hour downtime. That means they're going to do a simple reboot with minor code changes. For the big monthly patches, they take a lot more time and go through additional proceedures to make sure everything is coming up correctly because of extensive code changes. Sometimes they just reboot with no code changes. </P> <P>A lot of online games are doing frequent, daily, reboots and maintenace now. From a very technical point of view it just makes too much sense to do some preventive maintenace. Would you rather wait a whole month for these minor changes? I like seeing this "fix-it-as-soon-as-we-can" attitude which so many people claim does not exist.</P>
