Gonna post this before I take the time to set up a characater in the Test Server.

Anyone know the Specifics of the upcoming Tradeskill Writs? Will they be similar to the Adventure writs in that you have a selection of Writ Quests to chose from? Will you get locked out of doing lower level Writs if you level to fast? Similar to how you get locked out of Adventure Writs when you grow past them. Or will they be like they were before they had been taken out of the game, ie, one quest Tag for every single Tradeskill Quest?

I ask because I'm wary of leveling my Tradeskill right now. I want to start workig on getting the Wurmslayer, but I am also a mad quester. I don't want to loose out of getting lower level Tradeskill writs and I fear if I get to high and the Tradeskill writs go live I'll find out I am locked out of dozens of quests that I could have done if I had just waited.

I thank you ahead of time for your polite responses.

If you are planning to be a tradeskiller on the Test server, be aware that exp will go VERY quickly in the first tier (there is a 50% exp bonus default on Test, although you can turn that off). I just started a new character on the weekend and just doing the beginning tradeskill quests got me to level 10 in I believe about 8 combines total... So I wouldn't worry about doing writs at the very low levels, as you won't really have time to fit them in . From what I've been reading in the various tradeskill writ threads (there are several of them with quotes from the Devs about what's happening, you might want to do a search), they are going to be timed "make x of whatever item" type of writ quests. I imagine the items to be made will be randomly picked from within the skill range of your crafter, as the previous writs were, but perhaps there will be a list of choices. I don't recall if there's been any specifics about that posted yet, but they do plan to add in additional types of writs, so there will be some choices presumably down the road. Personally I can't wait until they are ready Edit: to correct my error on the exp bonus
Message Edited by Eveningsong on 08-14-2006 03:47 PM

Ditto

In two days real time you can have a tradeskill well above 20 on test. The only thing that slows you down is harvesting. The same is just about true for adventure levels. That means it's really easy to roll up a new toon when it comes time to test new developments for lowbies. You get six toons on test just like on live servers.

[edit] P.S. we just don't know what the new writs will be yet.

Message Edited by Ebjelen on 08-14-2006 02:24 PM

So basicly you go upto the NPC and ask "do you have any Rush Orders available?" and the NPC says "Why yes one just came in...<Pop-up Quest window>". Eventually we will have the options of asking for the other types of orders instead, either from the same NPC or a Differant one.

You have to be TS 20. I made a new toon on Test two weeks ago, did the Island Quests and left the Island. Got high enough in adventure level to harvest T1 and T2 items. Pre-harvested T1 and T2 as much as my bags could hold.6 hours.Went to TS instance as 'Unskilled'With pre-harvests and just the pristine bonuses from making one of everything in the first recipe book you're given hit 10 and classed.Bought books for class went back in and hit 20 Alchemist.Total time from approaching TS person to level 20 Alchemist: 27 minutes. So I did a bit of up front investement, but it shouldn't be a big deal to get to TS 20 if you choose to Test.

Let me clarify the question.

With Adventure writs you gain a selection of Writs you can complete within your tier, T2, T3, T4 Etc. When you grow past a Tier that Tier becomes locked out. This if very very anoying for people trying to do a quest to help get their total quests done numbers up on the Station's "Quests Completed". Though not important to the game it's self, it is something to do to pass the time and get very minor bragging rights or at least a good messuring stick as to how much of the game you have done with that character.

The Question I'm asking is. T3 craftsment Writs, are there multiple selections with multiple journal Entries? And are those entries the exact same entries as T4, T5, T6 and T7?

Up until they turn off craftsmen writs, there was just the 2 quests, personal craftmen quests and status writs. There was just the 2 entries regardless of the characters level. Be you lvl 10 or lvl 70, the entries would always be just two, and no matter how many times you did the quest the Quests Completed counter would remain the same.

Thank you for any information you can give on this question

Um, I'm still not sure I get it, lol.

You are offered several levels of difficulty according to your TS level. My lvl 21 Tailor only gets offered Apprentice writs. You can only have one in your journal at a time. It shows in the completed journal as one repeatable quest.

You'll have to get your bragging points from your personal status point or contributed guild points

I think it's like lvl 23 or 24 that you will start being offered advanced apprentice writs as well as the apprentice writs.

The choices are craft level based and there are no quests below level 20. That's why you don't see the choice yet. Keep leveling and you will see choices.

Message Edited by Ebjelen on 08-20-2006 03:18 PM

As you level up higher you do get offered a choice of quests based on level difficulty. When you cross over or advance, tiers, the choices cross tiers as well meaning you get choices from both tiers. You'll want to have materials for both tiers.

For the average crafter they are all very difficult quests of the type make x and x and x within a very short time. My sage quests have been for 6 scrolls, each a different spell, within 8 mins 30 secs. The timer starts as soon as you get the list and stops when you complete the last item.

Message Edited by Ebjelen on 08-20-2006 03:27 PM

Message Edited by Ebjelen on 08-20-2006 03:28 PM

Well, I was just typing that they were not named individually, that they were generically named based on their difficulty and the items to make are randomly generated within the required levels. However I just logged in to double-check on the exact names and low and behold they have changed how they are named . My carpenter is at 39 and has had 6 different levels of difficulty offered to her through the various writs she's done, and here's how they show up in her quest journal:20 - A Little Groundwork (rush order) (repeatable)24 - Faydark and Ashes (rush order) (repeatable)29 - Furniture Storage (rush order) (repeatable)30 - Wall to Wall Work (rush order) (repeatable)34 - Warped Wood (rush order) (repeatable)39 - Advanced Journeyman Carpenter Work Order (rush order) (repeatable)You can see how they used to be named with the level 39 one; obviously they are still in the process of finalizing the way the writs will appear. Basically every 4 levels a crafter is offered an increasingly difficult option for writs - in the beginning it didn't matter how many times you did a specific level, it showed just as 1 writ in the quest journal. Now that they've assigned names, it will be interesting to see if there are different versions in each level. Guess I'll be doing some more writs today .
