is it still just the 4% increase in Mit for armor and 4% increase in Damage for Weapons as stated in the dev chat on House of Stratics?

considering most of it sells about as fast a [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] pie on a roadstand in the middle of nowhere, i think anything is better than nothing =im just happy i wasn't a non-tailor outfitter

It looks to me that the increase is 4% on armor, 3% on weapons.

My original weapon was 27.5 DPS, now it is listed at 28.3 DPS which is 3%. 28.6DPS would be 4%. Not a rounding issue either, I checked my other weapons, 3% DPS across the board on the items mentioned.

A lot of people(TSers) who saw this announcement and thought "great" might be sorely disappointed. 4%, or 3%, isn't going to change the first glance impression of item. 4% at 300 mitigation is what 12? Yeah that really makes me go "wow." LOL. A theorectical set of 7 changed from 2100 to 2184, and that is at T7? What is that as a % mitigated, like .4%? You can make that up by getting a higher con piece of armor. Sorry to say I can't even give them a "A for effort" on this one. Call me a Negative Nelly if you like, but to everyone except the min/maxers (who don't even care about mastercrafted anymore really), this would have no more apparent effect on combat than announcing "All master crafted armor is now purple."

Message Edited by Kenazeer on 08-07-2006 07:04 AM

On the other hand we could use the change to "inform" players that rare crafted weapons and armor are good to have again. They would only know the truth if they actually read the update notes that it is only an increase by 4 percent. A lot of people dont read the forums or the update notes.

It wouldn't be lying if we choose our words carefully and just use generalizations right?

Nevermind, being honest works out best in the end. We just have to call it as we see it. The crafted armor and weapons are a little better then they were before and but its probably better to still buy uncommon treasured or legenardy off the broker and/or kill named for drops.

They would be good for someone lvled to 70 as quickly as possible so they can farm nodes for tradeskilling or until enough money was made to buy legendary off the broker if they harvest their own rares.

This will definately assist the armoring community a great deal. Now instead of the 403 mit on xegonite greaves it will be 419. +1 to defense this will make it much more desirable than its current 403 mitigation. I hope these changes hit live soon. Maybe ill start armoring again. I mean the prices of xegonite on Butcherblock is insanely low at about 50-gp to a high of about 90gp. The 90gp never sells though...

I am not an armorer, so it could be you are receiving this kind of feedback from your clients. Me, as a consumer, if I wasn't thinking of buying it before, this change isn't enough to make me buy it. I will allow that this is just my opinion though and maybe you have heard differently.

Message Edited by Kenazeer on 08-07-2006 08:48 AM

People don't buy armor one piece at a time. They hit the next tier and start looking to re-equip everything. At 300 mitigation going to 312 we need to carry that increase across 7 pieces at least. That's 2100 mitigation to 2184. If there's also a plus to defense skill that's even better. This difference may also seem miniscule, but what was the mitigation prior to this change? [edit: just rememebred what I wanted to say here. People have other stats, spells and gear that are going to modify that additional 84 even more. Just as there is more than one piece of armor, there is more than one variable at work.] Remember that this is an upgrade and consumers do think in bulk. Otherwise, bulk discount stores would not be able to do business. (do not put names in followups please, we don't want to get locked) People with families or large households do this kind of shopping math every day. And most of the time they do it on the fly, in their heads, at the market in the check-ouit line. Even nerds and geeks go shopping once-in-a-while. We wanted a positive change we got one. I myself want my armor and scrolls selling like I have a monopoly. Unfortunately, my competition disagrees.

Message Edited by Ebjelen on 08-07-2006 04:11 PM

pre- LU24 cobalt was 403 mit for chest peice. new one was knocked down to 342 and had its stats altered to make it more in line with the tier it is in.

I will try to log on tonight to switch out a piece and see what the difference is. Until then, point taken, but I bet you will be suprised at 70 how little something like 84 raw mitigation adds to your % mitigated, escpecially if it is a level 62 con piece.

What is this 'especially with a 62 con piece of armor" you keep talking about?

Well it looks like I was off substanially. It is probably about 1.3% mitigated for 84 raw AC at level 70. This is comparing a xegonite bracer I bought vs. a Nemesis bracer. The change was 1% mitigated from a raw difference of 65 AC. I am not sure how this scales on leather, chain, and plate so take that number in context.

Calendri wrote:

What is this 'especially with a 62 con piece of armor" you keep talking about?

Rare crafted can be equipped at x2. That's probably what the person meant my a "con" of 62. Some drop pieces cannot be equipped until 69 or even 70. The rare crafted wouldn't compare well to those even with the improvements of the last Update.
