Can we get rid of this? I really don't need a message saying my tools must be equipped every time I zone. The message could be moved to a pop-up window that appears when you first attune the tools, so everyone would still be aware of the need to equip them.<div></div>

<DIV>Ditto. Surely people will notice harvesting is taking way long if they forget to re-equip the tools.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Tab</DIV>

I wouldnt mind it if the messages popped up when you tried to harvest. Like the gathering tool message would display if you started to gather and didnt have the tool equipped. That would make sense.<div></div>

The annoying thing is that you get the message for every single harvesting tool you have in your inventory that is attuned, its not even a message related to trying to use a tool incorrectly.

<DIV>This bug was brought to the devs attention back when the tools were still only on test. Must be one of those bugs that are harder to fix  for whatever reason (or lower priority). Maybe Niami knows.</DIV>

You can stop these messages by right click on the chat box, select chat options, under game text (top option), uncheck notifications (I don't have game open so this is off memeroy but it is the middle of the 3 options under the top one.

<DIV><FONT color=#33ccff>YES, please fix this, it is really quite annoying. Not game breaking annoying mind you, but annoying none-the-less. And I realize that you can turn off notifications, but there are some that I do need to see. And if I turn it off, I don't get any of the messages that I may or may not need.</FONT> </DIV>

Notifications are also for your friends list, and I would rather not turn them off.

<DIV> <P>Well, I carry 4, and I keep the Gathering one in the Charm slot the game doesn’t auto equip to (because you gather more than anything else), and swap the other three in and out of the slot the game does auto-equip to from my Hotbar, where I’ve drag & dropped the tools from my inventory to right under the harvesting Icons they’re for. Need to Trap? I hit the tool under Trapping before I start. Moving on to Mining? Click that pick on the way to the Node...</P> <P>As to the OP, I hate the endless SPAM I generate doing this; every time I swap something out it tells me the thing I just replaced needs to be equipped. Very annoying.</P></DIV>

I think a better way to do it would to somehow make them automatic, either adding slots for each of the tools, or making them disappear upon purchase and adding a boost to the icon, or just requiring them in inventory. It's very annoying to have to switch tools between every node, especially when you can't use items as macros. (Or can you do that?) Harvesting already takes long enough, and I don't see any reason to add inventory management to it.<div></div>

<blockquote><hr>mochlod wrote:...Anyone have a tip for making swapping easier?<hr></blockquote>Easiest way I have found to swap is set a hotbar on your screen, drag each tool from your inventory to the hotbar, and drag the item in your 'bottom' charm slot to the hotbar.then u click on the tool u need in hotbar, it swaps low charm out for the tool you clicked, then wehen done harvesting put the bottom charm slot back by clicking it in hotbar. I keep all 5 tools on me, really not sure i am saving any time though. These tools should not have to be equipped.

WOOHOO! As of tonight's patch on Test, there is no longer any harvest tool spam. As well, the tools are now charm slot optional, meaning that you have continual buffs of all tools that you have attuned and in your inventory OR equipped.Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The spam will not be missed. At least the notifications of friends logging in/out will not be flooded away during harvesting <span>:smileywink:</span> <div></div>

It would be pretty silly to have to swap these in and out of my bank when I know I'll be harvesting just to avoid spell effect spam.<p>Message Edited by WAPCE on <span class=date_text>08-03-2006</span> <span class=time_text>01:31 PM</span>

Well yeah, the spell effects show constantly in the buff bar as long as the tools are in your inventory or equipped. Personally it doesn't bother me, but I could see it being annoying to some people.

I don't find it annoying, just a space crunch. With my own buffs and FT/proc items, I'm already up to 15 permanent spell effects before any buffs from someone else, any hostile spells cast, or any detrimental effects on myself. At least they re-ordered the spell effects window to show detrimental and short term effects first.

Perhaps something in the order of the keyring they have in EverQuest.  If you pick up a key, it goes on your special keyring (which is invisible but apparently stored for your character) and the key disappears from your inventory.  Making the same for tools could work, removing the tools from inventory but still having the benefits for them all, not having to switch out the tools etc.
