I think it would be fair for the soloers if they have their own set of relic armor. Raiders say that relic armor is to help them raid better, whatever they us as an excuse now a days. I just wanted to throw this idea out as many times as i can, i would like to see a set of relic armor for soloers, and dont tell me to go do the claymore quest, no. Make solo quests to obtain each piece of armor that does not include raid groups.

Message Edited by Monkeymuncher on 07-02-2006 09:49 PM

Message Edited by Monkeymuncher on 07-02-2006 10:25 PM

I supply raiders with my crafting. I can tell you one thing. The gear they get is nice (most underwhelming in t7 or broken) But they spend tons on supplies (look at ranger arrow cost for some enlightenment not to mention poisons) the gear they must have. the team work they must have. else its wipe city and a wipe is costing them lockouts time and repairs and a bunch of expendables in supplies. now how is that fair if some average equipped toon can walk up spend 30 mi 1 hour kill so - so mobs that are soloable compare to the time expense and good lord the comitment to working in a raid enviroment. (I'd never do that too much like a job then a game). This is a horrid idea and i hope it never comes to pass. want good gear spend the time and effort get it.. and then hear some guy saying its not fair he cant get it solo. And i repeat I have never raided. I mostly am a crafter. but i see the logic in risk vs reward. its there for the taking if you want to invest in it.
Message Edited by redlance68 on 07-02-2006 11:16 PM

If this is true, you may want to not use the term "relic armor" as that is a very specific set of items in the game, and one that is still, after months, a sore spot for some people.

If what you want is matching armor, well, its all out there. First up you have the quest series on the IoR, then at level 20 you can start your class specific armor quests, though these WILL require a group, unless you decide to wait a untill its green, by which time the armor is near useless to you.

If you want pure solo armor, you can go to LS or EF and kill sootfoot gobling or bitterwind pioneers/explorers, both had, at least when i was killing them, full sets of armor on there loot tables. It will take you a while to get every piece, and from memory there is only cloth and plate in EF and plate in LS, but it all matches. Kill nightbloods in EL for nightblood armor, i got my level 40 templar a whole set ready for as soon as he could wear it. The stats of these items are not great, but hey, if you get them solo, they are only supposed to help you kill solo mobs, which they do just fine.

Remember, if you want matching armor that can be obtained solo, say you want matching armor that can be obtained solo, dont say you want to be able to get relic armor solo, they are two totally diffrent things.

Wanting to have a set of matching armor? Nothing wrong with that at all. I'm level 70 and I wish the same thing. It would be nice if there was a way to have matching armor that was of a quality better than mastercrafted and lower than fabled raid. To match at my level you either have to settle for subpar stats or raid a whole lot. It's a shame there is no middleground between the two.

Granted it won't be for a few months, but the EoF expansion advertises armor sets. Hopefuly there will be some worthwhile options for soloers as well.
