I hear all this uproar about "They are ruining the summoners", "They are gonna be an unplayable class", "If these acually go into affect I will quit playing my summoner". I think people are missing some of the big picture here.

1. Regardless of how anyone feels..Summoners are grossly overpowered. They need a cut-back. This doesn't ruin your solo ablity, It brings you a little closer to everyone elses solo ablities. I am sorry but summoners should not be able to solo even and higher conned HEROIC mobs. The point of a heroic mob is to be fought by a group of 3 or more isn't it? Noone is gonna tell me they can't do this cause I have a Conjy alt and I do it all the time. But for some reason people feel like they should be able to do this.

2. A huge plus I see for summoners here is less pet damage = less aggro.Wouldn't it be nice to be able to get into a group and not pull the aggro off of the tank every other mob? One of the biggest problems for a tank (I know this cause my main is a 70 tank) is the fact that they have to keep up with the obsence amount of damage a summoners pet deals....let alone the damage that a summoner puts off without their pet. It is bad enough with one summoner in the group but if you get a Conjy and a Necro in the group the tank has to sit there and mash buttons till thier fingers bleed..then they might both live. This update will make it easier for a tank to keep the aggro off of you and easier to get it back if they do lose it. How many times have you heard in a group "what happen to the conjy" ? You can do just a little to much damage and the mob turns around and backhands you a good one and your down before anyone knows what happen. I will personally play my conjy even more now knowing that I don't have to have a perfect tank that knows exactly what he is doing to keep the aggro off of me.

All in all I think when the dust settles that this update is acually going to be a pretty good one and summoners will get alot less debt and repair bills will be cheaper. I know the big attraction to Summoners is there DPS and solo cabablity... thats why I started one, but I also like to stay alive when I am in a group.

Message Edited by XxLabanxX on 05-22-2006 03:30 PM

Perhaps I am doing it wrong don't know. Though I don't care, I still have fun and will long after this update. With my warlock who is 60, I can solo some heroics depending on the situation. I have seen level 48 characters solo the lvl 50 Giants in ss all day long by using arrows. My 21 cleric can solo even con heroics, as long as they are undead and in decent size group. My 36 SK can solo heroics most of the time. My 24 chanter can solo heriocs as long as the mobs are in a group. My 25 monk usually ends up dead trying heroics. And my old 50 guardian had little trouble soloing heroics 2 levels lower. My 46 swashy was soloing epics x2 in ferrott before they turned grey.

I only listed the ones I play, except for the example of the lvl 48 character.

Message Edited by Mascouti on 05-22-2006 05:34 PM

1: Wizards and warlocks can solo heroic named mobs even or above them as well. To be perfectly honest, everytime I see a wizard doing it they do it with a lot less effort than me, and have a much higher success rate if they know what they are doing. It also takes them less time than when I do it with my necro. Also, I don't see how summoners are "grossly overpowered". Many times I have been out DPSed by a wizard or warlock, they tend to have good gear and spells, and a good grasp of their class. Only in the longer fights will I start to pull ahead, which seems balanced to me.2: I agreed with you for a bit here, because OCCASIONALLY my scout pet will pull aggro for a second or two, so the less DPS will help in that department. However, when you said you had problems holding aggro I stopped reading. Unless the tank REALLY sucks, be it a berserker, guardian, pally, SK, monk or bruiser, then they hold aggro very easily. The only time my scout pet gets aggro as I said above, which is rare anyway, is if I send him in too early and tank doesn't have a taunt or two up.But I don't really care about the changes coming to summoners. I enjoy mine and probably will after the changes. It's only the end of the world for the FotM players.

As far as soloing Heroics at or higher levels then them, well there is a certain amount of skill involved. The devs also state this. The ability of a class to successfully solo more challenging encounters higher level than them is based on a couple things.. How well that individual knows and plays their class and the strategy they use..

Though I agree us Conjuror's need a reduction in DPS.. SoE is taking this LU way too far (IMO). We will see i guess. I wonder if they will pull another fast one like they did with LU 13.. You know .. holding off until a week before the TU is to go live and throw in the "Bombshell" patch w/notes. Yea that was pretty sneaky what they did and I have not forgotten that complete pile of BS. Guess they figure with that tactic, its less complaining they have to "Ignore" prior to the update going live.

Message Edited by Trook on 05-23-2006 03:48 AM
