<DIV>One of the reasons we had the length of time our stuns increased was to allow us to use our CAs.  The majority of a a Ranger or Assassins CAs either have to be done from behind the mob, or from stealth or from range.  With a 1 arrow up mob I barely have time to get off a single CA before the mob is on me again.  In front of the mob non-stealth I can maybe do 25% of the damage I can normally.  So even before this change an Assassin or Ranger was much better in a group.  But with a 50% reduction in duration on the stun I will not get off a single CA before the stun breaks.  For a ranger I need to either:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1) Stun back up to the range at which my arrow based CAs work and the do the CA. (but this is only abouyt 40% of my CAs... many require stealth and/or behind)</DIV> <DIV>2) Stun, stealth and run behind and CA</DIV> <DIV>3) Stun, stealth and move to range to do a CA.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>With this change I might be really pressed to win against a single up arrow green.  (Level 65 ranger against a level 59 1 up arrow  scaleborn warrioir)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>AND yes... in front of this mob the mob is reducing my health faster than I'm reducing theirs.  That is with two active poisons and a pair of dual wield weapons around a 44-49 damage rating.  Basically a ranger needs to use their bow -- makes sense.  But the bow and Bow based CAs do not work unless I get outside mele range of the mob.  So no-stun and suddenly  a ranger loses 50-70% effectiveness solo.  (I refuse to try and kite... its just stupid LOL)</DIV>

<P>1) Use stun poison</P> <P>2) Try defensive stance</P> <P>3) This change does suck as cheapshot was the only way to use roughly 80% of our attacks.</P>

<P>well if i can't use cheapshot to get arround mob to do some damage there is no point in playing ranger on Darathar as u are forced to solo a lot due to lack of ppl to group with.</P> <P>Guess the retirement is comming sooner then planned.</P>

save your stress level and dont play a Ranger.  I retired mine a while back and am much happier for it...there is nothing a ranger does, that another class doesnt do better.. I cant think of a single thing.they are hideously expensive DPs compare to most other classes, arrows and poisons (GOOD poisons) are REQUIRED to keep up with the other DPS classes and cost alot of money. They lose alot of their effectiveness solo.  They either need to reduce the range for bows for rangers to 0 (we are afterall the masters of the bow ) or allow a larger number of the bow CA's to be fired on the run.  Personally i vote for no min range for bow CA's for rangers as this ONLY affects solo, most other times in a group or raid being close or far doesnt matter.<div></div>

<DIV>At lvl 55 an assassin gets concealment this helps a lot while soloing it is a 7s buff which puts you in stealth after each hit, making it possible to chain all your frontal stealth attacks, punch blade, our stifle, and our 2 3min and 15 min big hits, which makes soloing those tough one up arrow solo nameds a lot easier <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> For no arrow solo mobs a 4s stun is enough imho, pull with one of the big arrow attacks or do a stealth hit, stun 2nd stealth hit and mob is in red already.</DIV>

As cheap shot currently stands, I am having NO TROUBLE soloing in the Bonemire.  It's a little shorter than it was, yes, and I do notice that, but it's still far better than before the combat changes in the first place.  I can still get off a couple of attacks and I can still solo the same white and blue con mobs I always have without difficulty.  (I can't find any solo yellow mobs anymore, because I'm closing in on level 69, so I can't try them.)I spend a lot of time soloing writs, because my guild is painfully close to 40, and it's really no trouble whatsoever.  And as for grouping and raiding, cheap shot wasn't much use there because I can go behind the mob anyway unless I'm tanking.  (And I have tanked a seriously untraditional duo or trio more than once, but it's hardly what we usually mean by "grouping.")  So I'm still doing perfectly well on every group and raid dungeon/instance I've been along on, too.<div></div>

<P>TBH I cant see the 2 second reduction making much if any difference. The only mobs that ever had the full 6 second stun effect them are single normal or down arrow mobs. On any ^ herioc mobs the stun does not last more that 4 seconds anway and that is still plenty of time to move, backstab to stealth and get a stealth attack off.</P> <P>Also, try using a slow poison or hex doll then using stealth or surveillance mid fight, if you time it right you can stealth just after a hit and have time to get an attack off before the mob hits you and breaks stealth - it works on non slowed mobs so is even easier if they are slowed.</P> <P>Cant really comment regarding rangers as im an assassin.</P>
