View Full Version : Betrayal/Exile reset to AP1

Hello, I'm a fairly new EQ2 player. I started playing on the Nagafen server on release and leveled up to 70. After reaching 70 I have put a couple hundred of hours into acquiring rares/plat/master 1's for my character. I planned on Exiling on the PvP server in order to FFA kill and understood that there would be some penalties, but why such a harsh one? I'm positive a ton of people are in the same boat as i am. I dont fully understand the reasoning for such a harsh penalty when nothing like this was even hinted on prior (perhaps i wouldnt have added all my adept 3's/masters 57+ and kept them banked...) A suggestion might be reset to AP 1's when/if someone becomes the other faction not upon exile. Anyone who feels the same way i do please speak up so they reconsider this.

i know it sucks, but it happens in betrayal on live now...and its been said before that it will reset everything to app1. Just the penalty of betraying. as is having to live in FP if you betray qeynos :smileytongue:

The primary reason is, because classes like SK or Necro or Ranger will change class completely if they betray all the way to the other city....Rangers will become Assassins, SKs will become Paladins etc. How can you transfer Master and Adept spells accross to a completely different bunch of skill lines? In my opinion you can't, certainly not easily. You could say that non faction dependant classes keep they spells and faction dependant classes dont, but thats hardly fair either. This way every one betraying is on equal footing, (and in the case of PvP able to attack each other, so is even more important), and I think is a perfectly reasonable sacrifice to make when deciding to betray.

What i belive he is saying is that alot of people are going to exile but not switch sides and that it dosent make sense to lower them to app 1 if your keeping the same spells. i agree with this . the reson they are they are resetting is becase you get new skills im fine with that, but until you switch (if you switch) you should keep your spelles at there curent lvl (master 1, adept2,app.3, ...)

<edit spelling, forgot a sentance (doh)

Message Edited by ksher770089 on 05-12-2006 07:49 AM

The way the current low level betrayel works, you keep yourskills and class until you complete your betrayel by talking to the trainer in the city you are joining. I see no reason why this would change.

In the current Betrayal, your spells don't get reset until you finish the quest and talk to your new trainer. The test notes are vague, "Note that all characters, whether they change their class or not, will have their spells set back to the Apprentice I level after betraying." but I read that as working the same way. I.E. you start your betrayal, become an exile, build faction with your new city, become a citizen of your new city, swith/stay classes, THEN CA/Spells get reset to App1. Perhaps we could get some clarity from someone on test that has finished playing for the day?

Unless you never read the boards and/or just crawled out from under a rock in the last week, there is no way you could declare "nothing like this was even hinted on prior". In fact, the implications of the reset to App1 has spawned a thread each and every official announcement or discussion on the new betrayal.

ah vague indeed, thanks for the info, i officially withdraw my comment =p
