View Full Version : Predator issues with the changes to stuns

Ok looking at the test notes it seems that a predator's ability to hit cheap shot, go into stealth and get a backstab in on a mob is going to be effected by the change in duration.I dont understand why this is the case, in all my years of playing this game I have never seen anyone use cheap shot to do anything but that. It's what I thought the skill was designed for.Moving on to the 'Point Blank Shot' stun in the agility AA line again why the reduction. This will now be the 2nd time that the duration has been reduced. All this skill enabled rangers to do was hit the stun back off and fire a ranged attack, hardly overpowering.Last but not least we have yet another nerf to thorny trap, first the size was reduced now the duration. I simply cannot understand the need for what it seems to me are very petty nerfs to skills that players use day in day out. I cannot think of any case where people are using these skills to do anything remarkable, they just help with solo'ing is all.When I group I certaintly dont use any of these skills, so basically all this is doing is making it even more difficult to solo.

Please SOE - Don't send this change to live!Those changes look minor but as I recently went through ISP H3LL I know that if those changes make it to live then people playing rangers better pray they have a fast connection.  The LEAST little bit of lag and those stuns and roots will be wasted because they're lagging to much.   The current timers have a little but of fudge room for slower connections that the new timers won't give people.<div></div>

<DIV>46 Swashy on live and 2 on test here, the stuns seem kinda short as they were, not every time could I stun a mob, jump over it and get off a backstab as it was, now it will be virtually impossible. Yes, dialup here, so that may be a factor, never have seemed to get that tactic to work against anything with ^'s attached to their name. I'll check once I get the update downloaded but I have a feeling a lot of scouts will be hurting with this change.</DIV>

I just don't understand the point of changing cheap shot. Wasn't the point of the Control Change to accentuate the two chanter classes? Wasn't one of the problems that too many classes had too many control spells / skills, so that in a group it would reduce the nessecity of chanters? Isn't cheap shot cut to 1 second against heroics? So unless a group is hunting solo mobs, this change does nothing in that regard. It just hurts solo scouts.

It just hurts solo scouts.<hr></blockquote>Obviously cheap shot was vastly overpowered and all scouts were simply stunning mobs into oblivion and doing things they shouldnt lol.

Yeah, that's the clincher. Cheap Shot for rangers is a strictly solo ability. We don't use it in groups, because it's useless against heroic mobs. It's useless against even ^ mobs really, lasting only 2 measly seconds. We get Point Blank Shot, a short range stun that lasts for 2.3 seconds. That's it. Rangers do not get supplemental stuns or dazes or mezzes. These are the tools of our soloing trade. Please tell me where either a 6 second duration stun that is useless on heroics and a 2.3 second stun/throwback is allowing us to lock down mobs to take them down without trouble. These changes are going to kill people like me, the soloing ranger. They are our bread and butter for soloing. <div></div>

Why would you make our only stun, besides the AA ability Point Blank Shot, so short that you can't even use it to get behind a mob for a backstab (or another player). If SOE makes this change it will really nerf our class. The change looks minor on the surface, but it is really HUGE. I know what they were thinking, " Hey let's make illusionists and coercers alot better and nerf every other classes ability to stun and mez." But, in there short-sightedness by automatically reducing the stun on cheap shot they are breaking Rangers and Assassins if this goes live. Please SOE, cheap shot IS NOT a crowd control ability. Illusionists and coercers are gaining the ability to Mez and Stun EPIC mobs...wow!!! I think they won't get upset if you leave our minor 2.5 sec stuns (that work 50% of the time) alone. </DIV> <DIV>      I know alot of you don't play PvP, but think about what SOE is doing to us, taking away a stun that allows you to effectively get behind another player and backstab them.
